I'll take up this review - not as a request this time, but of pure interest! At a first glance the prose in this article seems to be in check, but I cannot be sure yet. I mainly focus on copyediting issues. I'll leave some initial comments either in a few hours or tomorrow. Thanks, Jaguar 18:39, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Initial comments

[edit]

Lead

[edit]
  • The lead complies per WP:LEAD except from one minor copyediting issue:
  • "Directed by Wolfgang Reitherman, it was the last to be produced by Walt Disney" - last what? Last film to be produced by him or last piece of work such as writing/producing?

Plot

[edit]
  • While I understand that this is the plot of the film's story, as per the GA criteria every section should have at least one reference in it - can you find and insert at least one reference into this section to be on the safe side? Someone who is petty might look into this article and try to re-assess it, let's be on the safe side here...
  • "a depressed Mowgli encounters a group of puckish but friendly vultures who closely resemble The Beatles" - it would be best to describe who The Beatles were (rock band)
  • "After Mowgli chooses to stay in the man village" - this should be correct to Man-Village as stated before in the paragraph

Development and writing

[edit]
  • "Peet decided to follow closely the dramatic, dark, and sinister tone of Kipling's book, which is about the struggles between animals and man. However, the writer decided to make the story more straightforward" - who was the writer? (Writer of the film or The Jungle Book novel?)
  • "Mowgli going back and forth from the jungle to the man village, and Peet felt that Mowgli returning to the man village should be the ending for the film" - should this be changed back to Man-Village as mentioned before in the article?
  • " Shanti, the human girl for which Mowgli falls" - should this be changed to 'falling in love with'?

Casting

[edit]
  • "However, scheduling conflicts, added to John Lennon reacting badly, lead to the idea being discarded." - did John Lennon refuse to the role? This doesn't have to be clarified if you can't find the information, it's not a huge deal...

Legacy

[edit]
  • " went on sale for the sum of £80,000 pounds sterling" - 'pounds sterling' doesn't need to be mentioned as the currency was already mentioned in its symbol, £80,000.

On hold

[edit]

This is a fairly popular article gaining 62540 views a month! There is much to congratulate in this article as the lead complies per WP:LEAD and most of the sections are nearly flawless in their prose. The only minor issues were a few copyediting issues in which I had mentioned above and a referencing problem in the 'plot' section. But other than that the article is very close to passing and will be wrapped up very quickly. I'll put this article on hold for seven days until those issues are addressed to! Ok, well i fixed everything you mentioned, but i don't think we need to source plots cause i have seen many film GA's and never seen a source in the plot. Koala15 (talk) 01:51, 9 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Close - promoted

[edit]

Sorry for coming back late as I have been very ill. You have successfully addressed all of those (mostly minor) copyediting issues. Everything now complies per the GA criteria. Well done on building another film GA! Jaguar 15:10, 10 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
