Image copyright problem with Image:The Hollow Men film promotional image.jpg
[edit]The image Image:The Hollow Men film promotional image.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
- That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Possible selective merger
[edit]An AfD on this article has been closed as "no consensus" with the following closing remark:
- The result was no consensus. Widespread agreement that the article is unacceptable in its current state, and merging does seem to be a recurring proposal. However, with no strong consensus toward any of the three main options discussed here, this seems best dealt with by the editorial community.
I think there are far too many trivial mentions in this article and we should only include matters of interest to readers concerned with the poem itself in a broad sense. It is of hardly any interest to readers that some band had a song that incorporated a quotation (though it may be of interest at an article on the band or the song). Also, to give a one line mention without saying what the quote was or why it was there is useless. Some referenced commentary should be there. Interestingly, when I look at the corresponding articles, Eliot or the poem don't seem to get mentioned much, if at all. So, unless there is consensus against, I shall prune a lot and try and add relevant detail (help would be welcomed!) and after that then come back here to discuss merging back into the main The Hollow Men article some or all of what is left. Thoughts? Thincat (talk) 16:58, 6 December 2013 (UTC)
Right. I've removed some items which I don't think inform the reader about the poem. Here is the article before the removals. Please restore anything I have removed negligently, but providing references. I'll go on and try and reference better what is left and decide whether to move any item into its associated article, or keep it here, or remove it completely. With some regret, with this edit I have removed a substantial item relating to the Halo (series). It was unreferenced and none of the three (featured) articles linked to make any reference at all that I can see. I think this might be restored it it were adequately referenced. I am going to reduce the sections in the article to one, prior to merging back into the main article. Thincat (talk) 09:50, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
