The Grocer 33

[edit]

I have requested a citation for the change of The Grocer 33 from "eight leading supermarkets" to "five leading supermarkets". All sources I can find say eight, but they probably include Safeway, which no longer exists (all stores were rebranded as Morrisons, or closed). I don't know of any other recently defunct supermarkets, with the exception of Kwik Save, and as a discount store, it would probably have been excluded from the survey. Two existing chains that are missing are Booths and Somerfield (I don't know of a third). Five may be correct, but reducing the number of supermarket chains would make the survey less useful, so I would guess that there are seven included in the survey. --Snigbrook (talk) 22:43, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

69 million?

[edit]

Surely, despite the reference, this cannot be true? 69 million would be more than 1 copy per head of population! 6.9 million, perhaps.... DWaterson (talk) 14:03, 21 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's actually just over 30,000. There aren't that many shopkeepers in the country. The reference previously given didn't say anything about circulation, so I've replaced it with the correct figures and a reference which does give circulation details. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.168.55.5 (talk) 11:33, 26 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
