- ... that The Greenwood Encyclopedia of Science Fiction and Fantasy contains an idiosyncratic selection of topics, from "Aliens in Space" to "Rats and Mice"? Source: https://go.gale.com/ps/i.do?p=AONE&sw=w&issn=00145483&v=2.1&it=r&id=GALE%7CA144193038&sid=googleScholar&linkaccess=abs

- Comment: This hook should be more interesting that the boring, matter-of-fact comments that most reviewers found it not comprehensive enough or overpriced... --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 12:29, 22 July 2021 (UTC)

QPQ: Done. |
Overall: Article was recently created and meets requirements for length and sourcing. Hook is interesting, assuming good faith on paywalled sources which require a subscription. No apparent copyvio or neutrality issues. Only issue is that QPQ appears to be pending, once that review is finished this will be ready for approval. BuySomeApples (talk) 20:59, 22 July 2021 (UTC)
- Courtesy ping for @Piotrus: this nom still needs a qpq and then it will be ready for the front page. BuySomeApples (talk) 04:03, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
- BuySomeApples, QPQ was done a while back, I listed it in the op already (Template:Did you know nominations/Black Death in Poland). Being in progress, AFAIK, shouldn't have caused any issues back then, and it was finished a while ago anyway (you didn't check before pinging me again? Would have saved us all some time :P). --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:08, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Piotrus: I guess I could say the same to you, since you could have pinged me or responded to my message on your talk page 2 weeks ago but oh well. Thanks for the update anyway. This looks good enough to pass now, so I'll approve the nom. Good work! BuySomeApples (talk) 06:44, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

Comments
- "It was edited by Gary Westfahl. The work consists" merge, "It was edited by Gary Westfahl and consists"
- "the last volume" third.
- "considered defining for the two relevant genres" which two?
- "reviewers finding this to be a commendable" this? Do you mean "the encyclopedia" perhaps?
- "overpriced" you didn't even mention how expensive it was.
- "The scope of the work..." The scope of The Greenwood Encyclopedia of Science Fiction and Fantasy....
- "written by over a hundred different" more than.
- "expected" who was doing the "expectation"?
- "its release, already in 2005" why "already"?
- "He finds" -> He found.
- "observes" observed. Be consistent with tense. Fix this throughout.
- "reviewing this work" re-assert the name of the "work".
- "noted that it is too limited" well, noted seems definitive. I would say that's subjective so perhaps " suggested that it....
- "He nonetheless concludes..." followed by "He concludes that ..." how many times can he "conclude"??
- "He observed that due to trying to cover both science fiction" as a result of rather than due to.
- "quite impressive", also he finds`" although would make more sense than also.
- "book is overpriced (at $349.95) and" ah, one review said it was over-priced? Is that really grounds for it to be considered, in general, over-priced?
- "introduce topics - themes, works" en-dash.
- "Achebe) - that seem" ditto.
- "entries.[3][5][2][1]" order.
- "List of authors and topics" describe this ext link in more detail.
That's all I have. The Rambling Man (Keep wearing the mask...) 19:03, 1 September 2021 (UTC)
- @The Rambling Man Thank you for the review. Fixed, mostly. See below for the exceptions/comments:
- Re: ""written by over a hundred different" more than." - hmmm, or maybe less than a hundred? See https://www.sfsite.com/gary/ww-themes01.htm . Maybe change to dozens?
- Re: "expected" who was doing the "expectation"? - reviewers, but it seems common sense to me (not editorializing).
- Re: "book is overpriced (at $349.95) and" ah, one review said it was over-priced? Is that really grounds for it to be considered, in general, over-priced? the previous reviewer (O'Sullivan) also commented on this, as quoted ("hefty price"). - Okay, change the "over a hundred" to dozens, and it's all good. Nothing to stop me promoting now. The Rambling Man (Keep wearing the mask...) 20:10, 2 September 2021 (UTC)
