I compared the quoted section with my own copy. Mine doesn't have an "introduction": it has a "preface", written by Conan Doyle, which includes some of what is quoted (but not all) and includes other material. It is also written in the first person. I wonder if the quote is from a later edition which includes an introduction by another editor? Bluewave (talk) 14:59, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
