I

[edit]

I may be totally wrong, but one is left with a perception the $15 b Bush initiative was distributed through Global fund, which is not correct. Is this an observation by other wikipedians or is it a case of being unable to read correctly, English being a second language? And do we have an article on Bush AIDS Initiative? A hard subject to write on, but I was just curious how its going and can't seem to find a wikipedia article anywhere? gathima 15:58, 4 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Merge with Global Fund

[edit]

Seems like a no-brainer to me. I suggest the article title "Global Fund" is preferable to the longer version. Trezatium 16:23, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Considering one is a shorthand for the other, it is natural to merge them. Having two articles briefly confused my research. Merge. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 222.102.210.10 (talkcontribs) .

No question. Merge them. ArchonMeld 22:08, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Done. I chose the longer article title in the end, but feel free to change it. Trezatium 13:56, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Kazatchkine

[edit]

M. Kazatchkine became Exec. Director last month. If someone wants to make a page about him, his bio is on the Global Fund site, here: http://www.theglobalfund.org/en/media_center/press/pr_070208.asp --Shoshoni 06:16, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oki added Michel and made a small page on him. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aidstbmalaria (talkcontribs) 10:28, 3 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

China abuse

[edit]

China claims an unfair amount apparently. Seems worth adding. Malick78 (talk) 23:08, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yomesccc (talk) 05:33, 17 July 2021 (UTC)== Corruption == This Associated Press Investigation and report/story seems pretty important amoung Reliable Sources, so this section needs quite a bit of Editor attention and expansion. Mr.Grantevans2 (talk) 00:29, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The GFATM would like editor attention on this claim for removal: "GFATM members have since then posted discrediting comments on people providing additional information on these dealings [18] or tried to make their comments disappear with press releases and marketing write-ups[19]." There are no sources to support this argument and the sources that are cited [18] [19] do not support this claim in any way. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.65.48.200 (talk) 10:01, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The GFATM would like editor attention on this claim for removal: "The Fund's Inspector General's office (OIG) which uncovered the corruption has been newly reinforced after the post was vacant for more than a year and was only created during 2005, years after the GFATM started to disburse US$ billions of funds into grants.[22]." The source cited claiming this does not mention anything to this nature.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.65.48.200 (talkcontribs) February 2011‎

The GFATM would like editor attention to state the facts on the following claim: "Severe cases of corruption have been found in several African countries such as Mali, Mauritania, Djibouti and Zambia." It is not several, it is 4 out of 145 countries receiving Global Fund grants.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.65.48.200 (talkcontribs) February 2011‎

The Global Fund's response to AP story on misuse of funds

[edit]

The Global Fund would like to join this discussion in order to get some editor attention on the Misuse of Funds section. We believe in order for a full picture of the situation to be presented, a section underneath ‘Misuse of Funds’ should be added that highlights the Global Fund’s response to the AP stories. This is the Global Fund's official response: http://www.theglobalfund.org/en/pressreleases/?pr=pr_110124.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.65.48.200 (talkcontribs) 15:51, 2 February 2011‎

Operations - Pope Benedict XVI says...

[edit]

With what authority does the Pope speak on the control of malaria? That the catholic church forbids the use of condoms is canonical - of course the Pope doesn't think that'll solve the problem. The whole statement is inappropriate and prejudiced and should be stricken from the article.Sbalfour (talk) 18:37, 31 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Updating/Restructuring Page

[edit]

The content of this page needs significant updating.

May I propose the following changes: - combining the "Fundraising", "Replenishment phases" and "Financing, major donations and administration" section - deleting the "combination therapies" section, which is empty and not relevant to the organization - deleting the "10th anniversary" section (it was four years ago) - revising the section on "Creation" - incorporating the "Affordable medicines facility - malaria" text

Other changes are needed, but this would be a good start.

Any comments?BAB Geneva (talk) 11:57, 28 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I wholeheartedly agree with your proposed consolidations! I will put some into effect. 174.20.214.31 (talk) 16:48, 28 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Creation section needs significant overhauling

[edit]

The detail in the creation section is excessive. I propose eliminating the meeting-by-meeting narrative and references to most individuals to create a more streamlined and cohesive section. The section currently reads like primary research on the movement to found the organization rather than providing well-sourced facts. I made a first attempt, which you can view in [sandbox]. Let me know what you think. Hakisalim (talk) 00:20, 10 July 2018 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hakisalim (talkcontribs) 01:30, 9 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
