Assessment

[edit]

This is coming along nicely. A few comments: the plot should be trimmed to adhere to WP:Plot; and consider adding sections to present the themes and perhaps the writing style, if any verifiable information on the themes can be found in reliable sources. Truthkeeper88 (talk) 00:31, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! I'll try to find some good sources for the themes and such. I've trying to find a good way to trim the plot without taking some important details. ITs probably only because I've read the books so many times a lot seems important to me. Derild4921 00:35, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Here's some Information about a film adaptation. Truthkeeper88 (talk) 00:44, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've seen that around when searching, but its been like that for three years and still no updates. I'll copy and paste from the main article, its already there. Derild4921 01:29, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions

[edit]

Suggestions for improvement:

  • follow the style guidelines according to WP:NOVSTY found here.
  • suggest moving the "themes" section after the "Synopsis" section
  • not until the "Awards" section does the article mention this is a children's book. If it is, then add that to the lead and maybe to infobox as well.
  • A few WP:MoS issues need fixing: per WP:Quote, punctuation should be outside quotation marks unless you're using logical quotations, which is a bit complicated.
  • Be certain to follow Wikipedia:Manual of Style (writing about fiction) and to keep a real-world perspective. Don't hesitate to ask, if you have questions about this.
  • References have parameters missing such as publication dates, place of publication. If you're using citation templates, fill in as many parameters as possible. Also, retrieval dates should be consistently formatted.
  • Infobox: at some point adding an image to the infobox wouldn't be a bad idea. This section in WP:NOVSTY has information about uploading under Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria - but I'd suggest you wait before doing so. I'm not familiar with this series, and want to do a bit of research first, to be certain it's okay to upload an image. Ping me when you're ready to do so.
  • Needs a copy-edit. Once you've done everything you can on your own, consider add a copy-edit request at WP:GOCE on their request page. If it doesn't get done, let me know and I'll swing through with a quick copy-edit.

That's enough for now. I'm always happy to answer questions.Truthkeeper88 (talk) 17:03, 11 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Simly's other name

The article mentions both "Simly Fyre" and "Simly Frye" - can someone check with the book? -- John of Reading (talk) 19:04, 31 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
