Should 'The Get Down' really be called a musical drama?
[edit]I was about to change it to 'music drama', but all the press I found calls it a musical drama, so I left it that way for now. I still think calling 'The Get Down' a musical drama is a strech. 'Les Misérables' (2012) is a musical drama with sudden singing numbers that are not motivated by the plot and everything, 'The Get Down' is a drama about music. If 'The Get Down' is a musical drama '8 Mile' might as well be one too, but the film is simply listed as drama here... Abyss Taucher (talk) 01:39, 13 August 2016 (UTC)
Someone can't do math
[edit]In the infobox, it clearly says there is SIX episodes, and then below that under cost it says: $120 million ($7.5 million per episode). I posit that someone is unable to do math. But since there are NO SOURCES, I cannot go find out what the truth is, whether it is $20 million an episode, or the total cost is really only $45 million. Or are there really sixTEEN episodes? Anyone? Oh, I've got twelve episodes[1]. That's closer. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:44B8:41CD:3800:E5EC:D469:384E:C683 (talk) 05:29, 13 August 2016 (UTC)
- The total episode count isn't set yet:
- "Guirgis added that the full episode count for the series has not yet been determined. 'We're still fighting whether we're going to be able to do 13 episodes or 12,' he said.[2] Abyss Taucher (talk) 11:41, 13 August 2016 (UTC)
Punk or funk?
[edit]The article quotes a source that says the series is at least partly about New York as the birthplace of "hip hop, punk, and disco". However I think that might be a typo and it should read "hip hop, funk, and disco". The latter three are musically related with origins in the black communities of New York, whereas punk is only partly of American origin and was created mainly by white rock musicians, some of whom were British and Australian according to the Wikipedia article about punk music. I haven't tried to 'correct' anything since I have nothing except that bit of knowledge to go on. I think a citation is needed for this quote, as well as clarification as to whether 'punk' or 'funk' was the intended reference. ChrisCarss Former24.108.99.31 (talk) 08:00, 9 September 2016 (UTC)
- I've relocated a citation that seems to support the 'punk' reference so that it covers the quotation in question. I still suspect it might be a typo originating from EW for reasons I've already given. However the quote is accurate on Wikipedia's part, so I can only let it stand as is and hope it's correct. - I suspect that Punk, is correct and was intended to come into the mix in a later season. Funk certainly didn't originate in New York.
