Some preexisting discussion

[edit]

The top introductory section will give a brief visual description of the memorial as well as the bare bones facts (artist, location, years, purpose, etc). It will feature at least one image of the memorial taken from wikimedia commons as well as a pinpointed map.

Historical Background This section will situate The Empty Library within the historical context of the Berlin Book Burnings without delving outside of the scope of the memorial itself (meaning that the page will give bare bones information and link to the wikipedia article specifically geared towards the book burnings themselves).

Commissioning

This section will introduce Ullman (linking to his page) and describe the memorial's origins and unveiling.

Memorial

Location contextualizes the memorial within Berlin and brings up the significance of it being so close to Humboldt University
Appearance (includes an image) gives a more in depth description of the appearance (both during the day and at night) and gives a sense of the size, scale, and visual experience of the memorial
Plaque (includes an image) describes the significance of the plaque inscribed with the Heinrich Heine quote

Merger proposal

[edit]

I propose to merge Memorial in memory of the burning of books into The Empty Library. Both articles, created at nearly the same time, describe the same object. —seav (talk) 09:20, 7 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
