Original Research -vs- Copying Someone Else's Research
[edit]I see the banner saying this article might contain original research, which Wikipedia seems to not want. But, you don't want people copying someone else's research, because that is plagarism. So, what does Wikipedia want? HaarFager (talk) 00:00, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
- You shouldn't copy others' work word-for-word, but it is fine to cite reliable sources about the work. See WP:OR: "The prohibition against OR means that all material added to articles must be attributable to a reliable, published source [...] Rewriting source material in your own words, while substantially retaining the meaning of the references, is not considered to be original research." (The article should also refrain from using the information from various sources to draw or imply its own conclusions that are not stated in existing sources.) V2Blast (talk) 04:39, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
