Removal of AFD Notes
[edit]I removed the AFD notice and notability notes and did some reworking of the intro paragraph to focus on the play's notability. While not a well-renowned play, it has been produced by a notable off-broadway company (Circle Rep.) and was created under the guidance of a well-known national theatre program (KCACTF). The deletion notice cited widespread performance by "amateur groups." This plays robust and continuing popularity among regional and community theaters (in my personal opinion) also increases its notability.
I'll be back once I can do some digging to round out the article with a better summary and other performance information. As always, I'm open to suggestions. Cheers! --omtay38 22:02, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
Diviners At Ball State University 2 Feb1984 SMU 1994
[edit]My wife and myself had our first, blind, date to see The Diviners at Ball State University on Groundhogs Day 1984. And 10 years later, also on Groundhogs Day at Southern Methodist University. Both productions were in the respective university's small experimental theaters and different in some ways.
I thought for years that Ball State's production claimed to be the world premiere but apparently not or if they did it appears it was not the world premiere. Very good play in any respect.
We didn't see it again but I'm pretty sure it was being performed by a professional group in Chicago, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, or some other city we visited on a wedding anniversary.
I hope the original author completes his research.
