Can someone please set this page to protected (ironic, I know, coming from an unregistered user)? This is a boys secondary school... therefore vandalism to this page is rife. 202.36.179.65 06:33, 24 September 2007 (UTC) Unregistered ex pupil.[reply]

Due to the mention of this school in the origin story of the Demoman in Team Fortress 2, is there any way that snippet could be put on the content page? Or is it a wee bit not notable enough? I'm just curious. Skye Lazuli (talk) 17:14, 28 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No I do think it would be notable enough, because Team Fortress 2 was mentioned on the Ullapool page. However, the school mentioned in Demoman's description is "Crypt Grammar School for Orphans near Ullapool in the Scottish Highlands" . This shows that the school that TF2 is referencing is clearly fictional, as it describes that school as for Orphans and near Ullapool. The school referenced in this article is neither of these. Foundation Date

[edit]

The article states the school to have been founded in 1539, yet documents in Gloucester Archives suggest an earlier date. D3270/1, dated 1528, is catalogued as "Conveyance by John Cooke of lands for foundation of the Crypt Grammar School". Similarly D3270/18, dated 1535, is catalogued "Conveyance by Joan Cooke (wife of John) of lands to trustees of the Crypt Grammar School". Is the 1539 date correct? A little late in getting a reply...yes, the school was founded in 1539. The documents you mention are regarding the current plot of land where the school is situated. The school itself was founded in 1539 at a different location, then moved to that land later in its history. It was a thin slice of heaven to study there - I was there during the 450th Anniversary celebrations in 1989, and hope to be able to attend the 500th.Greg1138 (talk) 04:29, 29 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
