At The Roundhouse, where I sold badges at the time, we were always keen to see The Cortinas because singer Jeremy Valentine had an very attractive sister. The high point of their set was the Them/Patti Smith song Gloria, in which the guitarist would pull off a deadpan solo of Hendrix's Third Stone from the Sun. They always seemed to be opening for The Stranglers - I guess they had the same agent - Albion? -- and IMHO always blew them off because they were younger & nerdier and thus truly punk. I specifically recall this happening when both bands opened for Patti smith at the Hammersmith Odeon in October 76. Wwwhatsup (talk) 06:55, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The article currently at The Cortinas as about a band that released one single in the 1960s and later became Octopus (which doesn't have an article). The punk band is far more suitable as the primary topic in my opinion since they achieved a lot more and are a more likely search target. Any thoughts?--Michig (talk) 16:10, 30 October 2010 (UTC) I think maybe moving The Cortinas to Octopus (1970s band) (there was another notable band of that name that released an album on Food Records in 1996), expanding it to include their single and album under that name, and then moving this article there would be the solution.--Michig (talk) 16:25, 30 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
