  • Constable commissioned the engraver David Lucas to produce the plates for a book... Should be specified as "plates of the painting"? Ditto for the same phrase under Engraving by Lucas.  Done Amitchell125 (talk) 16:08, 26 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

1. Background

[edit]
  • Looks fine

2. Composition

[edit]
  • depicts a young boy whose occupation is that of a shepherd. Maybe cut to just "depicts a young shepherd boy"?  Done AM
  • The background view, the figure of the boy and his animals are not depicted. "In the background of the sketch"?  Done AM
  • Constable was preoccupied by his work on the painting. Not exactly sure what the point trying to be made is here. Aren't most painters concentrated and preoccupied to some degree when they work on a painting? Perhaps you meant "preoccupied with making The Cornfield as botanically accurate as possible."?
Done Constable wrote that the painting was absorbing him completely, and it may be useful to quote his words, which are imo revealing. Amitchell125 (talk) 16:30, 26 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good to me. GeneralPoxter (talkcontribs) 18:48, 26 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Phillips commented:... Not sure about this, but maybe we could link some of the flora mentioned in the passage that follows?
Also unsure, as the general idea is not to include links inside quotes unless the are really needed, and follow the intention of the quoter closely. I'd rather not add the links. Amitchell125 (talk) 16:30, 26 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That seems reasonable to me. Dropped concern. GeneralPoxter (talkcontribs) 18:48, 26 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • the wheat would have been representation of peace, fertility and wealth. -> "the wheat would have represented..."?  Done AM

3. Exhibitions and reception

[edit]
  • in works such as Constable's Salisbury Cathedral. Should probably link to Salisbury Cathedral here? (also which one?)  Done AM
[edit]
  • Maybe footnote 5 should be moved to right after "a body of subscribers", since it's more relevant there?  Done AM

Sources

[edit]
  • Sources are reliable and cited properly
  • Refs 7 and 31 appear to be the same  Done AM

Judgement

[edit]

On hold until March 4. Some minor polishing needed to satisfy the "Well written" criterion, but passed for other GA criteria. GeneralPoxter (talkcontribs) 01:34, 26 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@GeneralPoxter: comments now addressed. Amitchell125 (talk) 16:41, 26 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
