Tour to Support Blackout
The tour is also to support her previous album Blackout as stated by britney on Britney for the recrod as there was no tour for blackout —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.132.20.156 (talk) 17:06, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
- I agree. The article should be adjusted to include both Circus and Blackout under the "Promote" section. 66.153.174.40 (talk)PanasonicPenguin
It really needs to say that she is also supporting Blackout with this tour because thats a very big part of it!!
Yeah, there are six songs from Blackout, plus two more are used as interludes. So that makes eight songs from Blackout and two from Circus, pretty clear it supports Blackout too right?
- Wrong. It's not the "amount" of songs from a particular album you perform that's the deciding factor on what album your tour is supporting, in most cases (and in this case). Britney is supporting her Circus album with her "The Circus Starring Britney Spears" tour. It doesn't matter whether she performs more Blackout songs than Circus songs, the tour is in support for her current album Circus, not her past album Blackout. Therefore the article needs to make it clear that this tour is in support for her current album. If this were "The Blackout/Circus Tour", it'd be a different story, but it's not. Percxyz (talk) 20:46, 29 March 2009 (UTC)
- But Britney herself said Blackout would be a big part of the tour and the tour was meant to be a lot of new stuff. ---Shadow (talk) 06:58, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, but just because Blackout is a big part of the tour doesn't mean the tour is supporting Blackout. The same thing goes for all her other past albums. If she did 7/8 songs from In The Zone, would the tour be in support of Circus and In The Zone - no. The tour would be in support of Circus, with 7/8 songs from In The Zone. The same rule applies for Blackout. When an artist puts out a new album, if they decide to go on tour, they're touring in support of their new album, no matter how many songs from previous albums are featured. If it's not "officially" supporting Blackout, it shouldn't be stated that it's supporting Blackout. Percxyz (talk) 10:21, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
- But Britney herself said Blackout would be a big part of the tour and the tour was meant to be a lot of new stuff. ---Shadow (talk) 06:58, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
britney spears herself said that the tour was to support blackout as well as circus, just because its called the circus tour means nothing, her previous tour was called the onyx hotel tour does britney spears have an album called the onyx hotel... no its just a name and because she has not had a tour to support blackut and considering that there are a lot of blackout songs the circus starring britney spears is a tour to support circus as well as blackout, another similar example is Madonna's drowned world tour which was to support both her albums ray of light and music check out the page if you have the time so i think it should say blackout and circus and its not fair for people to change things on this site soley on what your personal oppinion is this site is for everybody and if there is a problem then people should work things out instead of just changing things. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tonispears (talk • contribs) 12:57, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
- If you can supply a WP:RS with Britney's quote on this it would help. But really, the whole "tour supports an album" notion is almost out of date at this point. With album sales plummeting and tour prices and scopes increasing, many artists make more money from the tour than they do from the album. This is especially true of veteran acts like the Rolling Stones, McCartney, Springsteen, etc., but is also true of younger acts as well. Britney's tour should probably be viewed as a separate artistic effort and business venture, apart from any of her album releases. Wasted Time R (talk) 13:07, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
Tonispears, I don't know where Britney herself said the tour is in support of Both albums, but like Wasted Time R said, if you can find a reliable source stating she said this, then Blackout can be added (and should be added.) But until it's "officially" known that the tour supports Blackout, I still stand strongly by what I've already said. As far as the "personal opinion" thing is concerned, I believe it's more of a personal opinion to add Blackout to the list just because there's more songs performed from Blackout than Circus, based on the fact that it has not been officially stated that the tour supports Blackout. If there were more songs from In The Zone or Britney performed, would the tour support Circus and In The Zone/Britney? No. Same thing applies to Blackout. 'Working it out' instead of changing it won't help either, unfortunately. Since the time this article has been created, there's been a constant edit war regarding what album(s) this tour supports/doesn't support, and it was becoming pretty detrimental to the article and needed to be stopped once and for all. As far as the Madonna Drowned World Tour is concerned, that's a separate issue altogether and doesn't apply to this. Percxyz (talk) 19:50, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
Madonna went on her DrownedWorld Tour after Music was released but the Infobox for that tour says Supporting albums: Ray Of Light/Music. That could apply to this current Circus tour. However, it's true Drowned World is a track taken from Madonna's Ray Of Light album and the show opener. Israell (talk) 08:02, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
Yes but when AEG Live was talking about the tour they kinda mentioned she's gonna use this tour for promoting her LATEST TWO ALBUMS and that include Blackout I suppose. PlatinumFire (talk) 15:39, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Grammar aside, Spears lists this herself as with a capital S. Should this article no reflect what its official name is? MrMarmite (talk) 17:15, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
- The same applies for the colon. The young poplette might not understand the basics of English, but as she would say, it's her prerogative. She chooses the lack of colon and the article should reflect that, MrMarmite (talk) 08:26, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

The tour is being directed by Jamie King (Spice Girls, Back To Basics, and Oops World Tours) and musical direction will be done by Simon Ellis. The tour will be a three ring circus that envelops Brittany's life ending with her emerging from a thunderstorm at the end of a rainbow. As past choreographer described it to be a spectacle and that we haven't seen anything like this yet.
Get excited. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jsmit1190 (talk • contribs) 23:03, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
Sold Tickets
Her OFFICIAL website announced that in 6 days 500.000 tickets where already sold yet I see this nowhere on here! This is vital information! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.25.98.70 (talk) 20:59, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
Article is lacking
Wow, this article is lacking so much information! Absolutely nothing about ticket sales? WTF? Nothing about the firing/quitting of her previous tour director? I also think the chart with the dates needs to be changed. It would make much more sense to have the country section changed to say the state/province of the location. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.141.90.64 (talk) 01:35, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

Virgin Mobile
I undid the move which added the sponsors name but screwed up moving the talk page back. Could an admin take care of that? Cheers MrMarmite (talk) 10:48, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
- I have moved the article to "The Circus: Starring Britney Spears", as I see nothing in the sources to verify which is the proper destination and my first point is to get the two back together. If the proper destination is "The Circus Starring: Britney Spears", the two should be moved together. I don't see any punctuation at all in the sources I've looked at (http://www.britneyspears.com/2009/01/virgin-mobile-announced-as-britneys-tour-sponsor.php calls it "Virgin Mobile Presents the Circus Starring Britney Spears", no punctuation and a few extra words) and am wondering why this isn't at least at The Circus Starring Britney Spears. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 02:47, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

- Okay. If assistance is needed moving it again, you might want to ask an admin directly or post it at WP:RM. It was kind of by happenstance that I noticed your request here, when I was doing recent changes patrol and noted that we had a fairly active talk page that seemed to have no article. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 11:52, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

PCD setlist?
Why does the opening act's setlist in this page? I read that this is the American leg of their tour, so i think it should be moved to their page.
- I think it should stay as for the tour they headline elsewhere they have a different setlist.Wneedham02 (talk) 17:16, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
Exactly, that's why i think the World Domination Tour should have an American leg setlist, and a setlist for the European leg in THEIR page. plus, i don't see Lady gaga's setlist in there. xwomanizerx
I actually don't believe that this is the North American leg of their tour. I also read that somewhere as well, but I think that was just said because they're not touring North America in the first place - but because they're opening for Brit on HER North American leg, it was maybe thought out that this was also their 'NA' leg as well, however that hasn't been confirmed at all. So far they're technically only touring 2 areas, Europe and Oceania. There's nothing that states or confirms them touring the US and Canada. Also their regular setlist for their tour contains 24 songs, whereas their setlist for Brit's opening act only contains 8. This really is an 'opening act' type of show for them, and not a regular setlist/setting for a full-out tour, so I think it's best that we keep their opening act setlist in the Circus tour article the way it is. If a reliable source confirms that this is indeed their North American leg and setlist, then it can be moved to their tour article. Percxyz (talk) 04:11, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
Mannequin?
What about mannequin? Is she going to perform the song once the single is out?
Reviews?
Does there need to be so many reviews and if so then could they be shortened as it just looks like a sea of words.Wneedham02 (talk) 17:18, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
- I agree, the reviews section of the article is way overcrowded. There's too many reviews (13, to be exact.) There should be no more than 4 to 6 good, descriptive reviews for the tour. Any more than that is too much, especially when they're all saying the same thing anyway - that the show was, for the most part, a success. I decided to cut the review section in half, leaving the longer, more descriptive reviews in, and taking the short, non descriptive one's that basically say the same thing as the longer ones out. 7 reviews should be decent enough for the Critical Reception section. Percxyz (talk) 19:27, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
Mmmm... Actually three quarters of the reviews paragraph features bad reviews of the show, but generally the show had good reviews! People are going to think that it hasn't been well received. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.24.189.218 (talk) 01:42, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
- Somebody changed the section, adding more sources stating the tour was lipsynched, than those that stated it was an overall success, which I hadn't even noticed. I reverted the section back, re-adding six positive reviews, and two not-so-positive reviews to try and make it unbiased. The tour is still an overall success despite the fact that it's lipsynched, and should be stated as such. Percxyz (talk) 05:28, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
- To be quite blunt, all the reviews published both praised and panned Spear's performance. The reviews were mixed, not overall good. Also, the pulled quotes focused on Spears' comeback and not an analyzation of her performance during the tour. Some of the quotes were pulled from the comment section and not the actual article. Removed some quotes as a majority seemed to be from the New Orleans show. I spread the opinions out by dates, not focusing on one show. Also, just a tidbit, when you quote something, you are quoting the author, not the magazine in general. Grantruly (talk) 19:55, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
"Vagina" Incident
Should you put this under malfuctions? It was stated that her "VAGINA (she says PUSSY in the video) IS HANGING OUT OF THIS FREAKING (she says FUCKING in the video) THING!" then the mic went dead. You should put a malfunction section. All the other tours have one. Video LINK:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxhPDpRBv4s&eurl=
This really isn't notable enough for a malfunction/controversy section. It did in fact happen (as hilarious as it was), however it was backstage while getting ready for a costume change unaware the mic was still on. It was a minor mistake at best and didn't really stir up enough controversy to have its own section. If she had said it while she was still on stage in the middle of a performance in front of the entire audience, then it would maybe be notable enough (but that's a pretty strong maybe.) Percxyz (talk) 23:55, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
Gimme More
Can someone edit the part of the setlist that says that the Gimme More remix includes elements of The Way I Are? The remix is actually the Lazrtag remix, also available on YouTube. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 139.132.1.23 (talk) 05:22, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

Should someone add that in the Toxic performance at Nassau Coliseum - Long Island, NY, she did an extra breakdown. Additional Notes section??
Is stating every celebrity who attended her show really necessary, or even notable? I really don't think it is, and should be removed. There's not even any sources backing this information up. Now if the celebrities mentioned in the section made an actual guest appearance on stage with Britney, that's a different story, then it's notable. But simply stating "who attended" is not. Celebrities go to concerts all the time, it's nothing special. Percxyz (talk) 20:01, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
About the tour/About the show
Entitling the "About the tour" section as such is inaccurate, as the section only describes the events of the actual show. It mentions details from the video introduction with Perez Hilton, to Britney performing in her gold cage, to the sawed in half magic trick, to the Bollywood theme she does to Me Against The Music, to the dance and video interludes, to the performance of the Slave 4 U remix, to the encore performance of Womanizer. All of those aspects are about the show itself, not the actual tour. Aspects of the tour include tour concept, stage setup, special effects, wardrobe, locations in which the tour will be performed, ticket sales, special guests, etc - none of which are mentioned in the section, making "About the show" a more accurate title. Percxyz (talk) 23:07, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
That's cause you removed the other part. I put it there based on on tour pages. The rescheduled date should be noted. ---Shadow (talk) 02:33, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
That actually wasn't me that removed it, but it did note that the March 26th show was postponed to May 3rd, if I remember right.. it definitely should be noted (as should all postponed dates), if anything probably on the 'Tour Dates' section. I'll add it there. Percxyz (talk) 07:34, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
Ok then, thanks. Like I said, I just put it there based on other tour pages. ---Shadow (talk) 08:42, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
Paris Dates

Duffy's "I'm Scared"
This song has been added, then taken off, then added again, then taken off again, and so on and so on, from the set list. Bottom line, however, there is no point in placing the song in the article, as it was only featured the first night of the tour, but not only that, Britney didn't even perform the song in the first place because of a miscue, only her backup singers did (as specifically reported in the People Magazine review), and as shown here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjD5Wl8iGXc
Therefore, song in question really isn't notable or relevant enough to be placed in the set list considering the circumstances. Percxyz (talk) 07:05, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
- Well in that case, then none of the interludes should be included because Britney didn't actually sing in any of them. People isn't exactly what I'd consider a reliable source. If you look at any of the videos of the New Orleans performance, you can clearly hear HER voice, there's no mistaking it. Also, the article for the Dream Within a Dream tour includes every song she ever performed on it, despite the fact that she didn't perform them every night. Bottom line is that it was part of the tour, and this article is about the tour. Keeping it in the article, along with noting that it was only on the first day should be sufficient. If you really want to say it wasn't a performance, then it should STILL be included, marked as an interlude.Kiwisoup (talk) 19:41, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
- Now that I've thunk about it some more.....was the performance of "I'm Scared" really supposed to be a performance, or was it supposed to be an interlude in the first place?? People mag. did say that it was a mis-cue on her part, but you're right, they're not always the most reliable. And if you watch the video, she clearly leaves the stage as the backup singers and music come on, it's not as though she forgot to enter the stage when the song started, she did the exact opposite. So maybe it is indeed an interlude, and should maybe be stated as such.. Percxyz (talk) 00:34, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

The poster image in the infobox was removed by now-blocked editor User:Grantruly with this edit. But the stated reason of "Please note that once free images are avilable, all non-free images are to be removed from the article" is incorrect; there is nothing wrong with having a fair use non-free official poster of the tour in the infobox, and then having free use photos of the concert itself later on in the article body. Album and single articles do this all the time with fair use covers; see FA articles Blood Sugar Sex Magik, Sky Blue Sky, and Love. Angel. Music. Baby. for a few examples. I've restored the poster image up top accordingly. Wasted Time R (talk) 04:00, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
Additional notes ?
I came across an article I found in the Herald Sun about Australian fans having to pay $150 bucks to see Britney "mime". Should this be included in additional notes? No... that's a normal price (Jonas have been selling for $400). The mime comment makes this seem a hate thing. Tokeltel 13:51, 1 April 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tokeltel (talk • contribs)
The Page Is A Mess
The tour dates are placed in such a way that it looks like crap...
The total gross revenue for the 11 shows doesn't fit...I counted it and it's over 25 million..NOT 23 million...yall really need to learn how to use a calculator... <-- looks like YOU need to learn how to use a calculator. I copied and pasted the numbers into Excel and used AutoSum to find 23,974,429!
The critical reception is a mess...the way it was before was way better...just one short column for every review so far...
And since when do we add fan's reactions to the critical reception part? They are not trained professionals and certainly don't know if a show is good or not....
And also...all the reviews have been positive with one exception...a lot of the reviews name her miming as a problem...although a lot also say that it's a Britney show and that was to be expected....it also should be included in the artcile that since Britney's 2nd tour critics have always critisized her miming..it isn't new...it's always been like that....
Update: And the article gets more unreliable with the addition of: Tour ends in November..
No it doesn't! It ends in June! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.25.117.15 (talk) 12:35, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
No it doesnt end in June, because it hasnt been confirmed yet if the tour is reaching parts of Asia and Australia

Concert Line Up / Opening
you guys mentioned everything that goes in the concert except the performences by the big apple circus. I went to see the show yesterday night at the tacoma dome in tacoma washington. And before the the opening video there was some circus act such as the guy with the spining fence and cube ,flexible girl , hula hoop girl, clowns etc. these acts took a chunk of the concert and i think they should be included in the concert line or at least get its on section. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 152.157.8.17 (talk) 20:43, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

Box Office Score Data???
One - there's only 10 dates included in this section,
and Two - they're poorly sourced. Actually they're technically not sourced at all, there's nothing cited that shows the numbers/sales for the section. I'm not really experienced with finding out box office score datas and what not, but the section really does need to be updated and properly cited.Percxyz (talk) 19:24, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

Heartbeat (Dance Interlude)
Not just those four songs are in the interlude. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkMwFukRlrQ I don't know the others, but clearly those aren't the only ones that are the interlude. Enanoj1111 (talk) 23:17, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
- You're right, but those are the most popular songs featured in the interlude. According to the video, there's 13 songs altogether. Adding all 13 featured songs in the setlist would clutter it up pretty bad, so just the most known ones should be included. Any more than 4 is probably too much. This should be added
Its president, John Meglen, told me: “It is one of the biggest and best-selling tours of the decade. Response and reaction has been phenomenal worldwide, and this weekend date at MGM is the highest ticket-selling gross so far. Redirection of The Circus Tour
The Circus Tour redirects to Britney's tour page. However, British boyband Take That are also touring this summer with a show entitled Take That Present: The Circus Live which is shortened to The Circus Tour in some media (due to their album being called The Circus. Shouldn't a mention of that be put on this page in order for people looking for the Take That tour to go to the page for that? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Stuart1000 (talk • contribs) 09:18, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
- If you look at this list, only a couple of general redirects are to here. And they don't seem to be effective; this general Google search finds no WP articles in its first page of hits, but note that every hit is a reference to the Britney tour, not the Take That tour. That shows that the Britney tour is far the better known. If someone does this Google search for the Take That tour instead, the WP article on the Take That tour comes up as the first hit. So I think everything is working okay as it is. Wasted Time R (talk) 13:03, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

Britney shouting wrong city in Manchester
ShadowRanger has removed both mine and another user's addition to the "Additional Notes" section, regarding Britney shouting "What's up London" in Manchester on June 17, citing "Those are not the types of notes we add.". Why not? It recieved a lot of attention on UK news, blog sites, magazines etc, and it seems like a similar type of note as Britney shouting "My pussy's hanging out" on March 8th, which is included. Surely this can be included? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.132.219.212 (talk)
- The pussy comment resulted in a wardrobe change, thus making it important. She accidentally said the wrong city name. That is not a big deal. ---Shadow (talk) 00:47, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
- I'm in agreement with Shadow, Britney shouting out a wrong city (whether intentional or not) really isn't notable. Now if she shouted out the wrong city and got booed by the audience for it, or it resulted in people getting angry and throwing stuff on the stage, or something else along that proportion - then maybe, yes. But that wasn't the case, and such a minor situation really isn't needed here. Adding every single minor detail or issue within her performances only clutters up the article. The "my pussy is hanging out" situation is indeed notable for obvious reasons.. Percxyz (Call me Percy, it's easier) 01:09, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

Photographers boycutting the concerts?
Britney Spears' management have apparently drawn up a contract for any photographers to sign, which would include some very strict demands (copyrights on selected images must be handed over to Britney Spears, no photos may be offered for resale, no "embarrassing photos" must be publicized etc). As I understand it, press photographers in Denmark and Sweden have all rejected to sign the contract.
Would that be worth adding to the article? There's an english blurb about it here: http://www.thelocal.se/20580/20090710/ KDLarsen (talk) 20:41, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
- At this point in time I would say no. The article only mentions about this in Sweden, and that seems fishy since none of the US, Canada, England, Ireland, or France concerts caused a stir about this apparent contract.
Spears hit a milestone in her carrer at Parken in Copenhagen, Denmark????
The Sumarry of the whole page says this:
- "On July 11, 2009 Britney Spears hit a milestone in both her career and The Circus Starring: Britney Spears by attracting almost 40,000 fans at a concert at Parken in Copenhagen, Denmark, thus being one of her largest concerts ever.
