[edit]Since The Chaser newsletter is nomore, should we perhaps change the name to reflect their advances in Television? --Smartaalec 05:11, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
The Tiger
[edit]However quoted that the boys that came from Grammar ran a satirical newspaper called 'the Tiger' was wrong. The Tiger was founded in 2001, when a 'teacher asked for a satirical newspaper like the Chaser'(when then used to release one) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.101.137.163 (talk) 08:49, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
Navigation template
[edit]I've made a template to ease navigation between Chaser pages:
I think some of these can be merged:
- Bloody Sunday can be merged into Today Today
- The Chaser Decides and The Election Chaser can be merged into CNNNN
- The Chaser Annual can be merged into The Chaser (newspaper)
I think the links should still remain in the template - they should just point to respective sub-sections, for example Today Today#Bloody Sunday.
I have added the group to Category:The Chaser, which itself is a member of Category:Australian media, Category:Comedy troupes and Category:Political satire. These are the best existing categories I could find for the group in general - More specific categories, such as Comedy television shows, Australian newspapers, and so on, can go on the individual production articles.
Any more ideas? -- Chuq 11:16, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
Great job, i like it Smartaalec 12:12, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
- I Disagree with the merging of The Chaser decides and The Election Chaser ito CNNNN. Smartaalec 10:05, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
- How about an article, The Chaser election specials for The Chaser Decides and The Election Chaser? -- Chuq 04:08, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
- I've created The Chaser Decides and stated that they are the same show, just with a change of names. The Windler talk 09:58, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

Notable Wikipedian
[edit]The {{Notable Wikipedian}} template above would be more suitable on the Dominic Knight article - which we have one. (Which would be good, because I don't think anyone knows a lot about him!) -- Chuq 01:03, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
New Information
[edit]I think I can help expand this topic by adding information I know about the team. I disagree with the merging of Today Today and Bloody Sunday because they have established themselves as two different shows. I also disagree with the merging of CNNNN and The Chaser Decides because they are two different shows, however I do agree with the merging of the Election Chaser with the Chaser Decides because it is the same show but with a different name. I have started up a new Chaser article about Chas and Dom's new radio show and suggest it be added to the navagation template, I will expand about information on it soon. Friday Chaser on Triple M
[edit]A couple of years ago around 2003/4 there was a show with I think Craig and Chris called the Friday chaser on triple m. it was on around 2pm and also had a segment called something like "Dare Chas" including one memorable stunt where he tried to place a citizen's arrest on a bouncer for loitering. All he would wear was a hidden mic so it was more dangerous than his tv stunts. Anyway i dont see anything about it on the chaser pages. Jabso 04:56, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
On Sundays in 2001 I believe 'The Chaser' was on Triple M late nights around 11-12pm as well. No comment has been made on the wiki page suprisingly enough. I was in boarding school at the time and it was a program I looked forward to immensely. 203.164.81.46 14:50, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
The show they were on was on Triple M radio called "The Late Night Chaser" and it had almost everyone from the Chaser on (Chris, Craig, Dom, Julian, Charles and also Chas), Some of the regular segments included "The Stupid Quiz" and "Challenge Chas". It defintely aired in 2001 although I can't remember on what night it was broadcast or how long the show lasted. I also remember repeats of the show were broadcast in the afternoons (maybe Saturdays??) and it was called "The Chaser Reloaded". Hopefully someone can remember/get sources for this early work and it can be added to the page. 210.8.232.5 08:53, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
Chaser Team's Middle Names
[edit]You may have noticed on most of the chaser teams names that their middle names have been added, this is all from the Audio commentary for volume 2 of the chasers war on everything season one dvd, everyone but Chas Licciardello's middle name was mentioned. Julian morrows middle name was mentioned but couldnt decipher if it was 'Frances Xavier' or not but im fairly certain it is, best to keep it out in case i'm wrong. JDoogins 00:23, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
alright update on that name thing, Chas's middle name was mentioned and it is the same as andrews; john. Ok now.... who the fuck keeps taking them out of the profiles, i have stated the source and yet people still don't think that they are true well i'm sorry to burst the bubble of you lot thinking they have some creative or exotic name then they have but get over it, craigs middle name is bruce and chas's middle name is john.... accept it STOP REMOVING THEM
The same commentary mentions Chas' name is short for Charles. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.179.108.179 (talk) 11:55, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
Origin of The Chaser name
[edit]The origin of "The Chaser" was explained in a video clip on http://www.countdowntothechaser.com.au/ (see the Highlights > Day 9 > the last clip) by Chas:
"Why's it called The Chaser? The reason why it's called The Chaser is because we had a comedy newspaper to begin with, called The Chaser, and that was called The Chaser as in, like... The idea was it was supposed to come out on Sunday, and people would get the Sunday papers, and this would be like, The Chaser, like the after-dinner drink of the [???] and the thing is that it never came out on Sunday because we were really disorganised, and so that made no sense."
Chaser Wikia proposal
[edit]Chaser fans may wish to take a look at my proposal here - http://www.wikia.com/wiki/Forum:The_Chaser . If you have had stuff removed from any of their articles here, this new proposed Wikia will be a suitable site for any Chaser related content! -- Chuq (talk) 05:29, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
Protection
[edit]Can we get the chaser related articles protected due to excessive vandalism? Hezbolarki Fun Ship 12:21, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
- Request all pages needing protection on Wikipedia:Requests for page protection. And no, I don't think all the Chaser pages require protection. One or two instances of vandalism is not enough for a page to be protected. If all of the pages that have been vandalised in the whole of Wikipedia (probably more than half), then it practically rules out the slogan "anyone can edit". ~Spebi 06:28, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
Sundays article
[edit]Did anyone see the article about the Chaser boys in this Sunday's paper? The Liberal Party conference had their profiles up and a note saying something to the effect of "I you see any of these men please alert security/management immediately"
With appropriate referencing, that could be added to the bit about Dick Cheney.
The Secret History
[edit]Started to expand, but then removed this, as wikivandalism isn't really notable... A vandal continually inserts references to the Chaser team into Wikipedia's article about Donna Tartt's novel, The Secret History, due to the book featuring a character named Julian Morrow. —Preceding unsigned comment added by The-Pope (talk • contribs) 17:27, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
At the end of an episode of The Chaser's War on Everything, Andrew Hansen mentioned that the Chaser team "are all atheists" but would nonetheless be taking advantage of Easter holidays. Obviously, this was just before Easter and I believe it was this year. I would like to use this as a citation to include the members of the Chaser team on the list of atheists. Does anyone have the details of this episode? ~ Switch (✉✍☺☒) 14:23, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
- I saw that episode and can confirm that that was the gist of his message but I don't think we should quote anything said on the show as part of a joke. It probably is true but a joke is not good evidence. Unless you can find an interview or some other source, don't add it. Nick 23:57, 19 September 2007 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nick81 (talk • contribs)
- I think that comment was a joke. The Chaser often change facts about themselves in order to set up jokes or stunts. In the Da Vinci Code kit stunt Julian sets it up by stating he is a devout Catholic. This may or may not be true. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.253.47.198 (talk) 23:47, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
Singular vs. Plural and Subject-Verb Agreement: The Chaser
[edit]Is it just me, or does no one seem to notice this incorrect subject-verb agreement in any of the The Chaser-related articles?
Incorrect:
- The Chaser is a group in which their programs ...
- The Chaser team were going ...
Correct:
- The Chaser is a group in which its programs ...
- The Chaser team was going ...
If you wanted to use a plural word and refer to the actual team members, you use:
- Members of The Chaser team were going ...
Please keep your eye on this article's grammar.
XP1 (talk) 02:17, 16 September 2010 (UTC)
- Groups commonly take plural verbs even when their names are singular. The Chaser are is also correct, and many would argue, more correct. MClay1 (talk) 02:44, 12 June 2021 (UTC)
Separate article for The Hamster Wheel
[edit]Are there any plans for a separate article for The Hamster Wheel? At the moment it only gets two sentences on The Chaser's main article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.182.159.24 (talk) 04:26, 11 November 2011 (UTC)
The Chaser's Media Circus
[edit]are there plans to add the new chaser show into the article? It is quite new and I don't quite know the conventions for when to add things in to an article. Anyway, here's the link on the abc website http://www.abc.net.au/tv/programs/chasers-media-circus/ An internet user (talk) 12:24, 10 November 2014 (UTC)

Order of Chaser involvement
[edit]I think there is some uncertainty in what order members joined:
One edit stated:
Fixed founding members which was wrong - Craig Reucassel and Julian Morrow were founding members and Chas Licciardello joined them later, not the other way around [1])
This is true, however the edit made was wrong (as it suggested Reucassel and Morrow went to Sydney Grammar) - when in fact it was Licciardello. The Chaser, however, was only created well after this.
