Isn't the man Caravaggio himself?

This almost the definition of original research, but the man in the picture does resemble the artist himself doesn't he? Joepnl (talk) 00:07, 13 August 2011 (UTC)

Yes, any European with dark hair and a goatee, between the ages of about 20 and 40, must clearly be Caravaggio himself. LOL. (I actually think you're probably right, but absent scholarly analysis coming to this conclusion, it's not a theory we can advance. I would be fairly surprised if some reliable sources haven't already published this conclusion, but my art books pile doesn't have any on Caravaggio. Maybe someone at major university or an art school can check the library there.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  10:40, 23 June 2018 (UTC)
Probably not him, unless he was alright with portraying himself as a cheat. Maybe he had that kind of sense of humor. The image doesn't resemble the image below this note and to the left (where his eyebrows would be the pride of any anticipated raccoon). Randy Kryn (talk) 22:05, 1 July 2018 (UTC)

The Cardsharps (Caravaggio)The Cardsharps – This appears to be over-disambiguation. The article was earlier at Cardsharps (Caravaggio) but we do not drop a leading "The" from the title of a work, per MOS:TITLES; WP:THE doesn't apply to work titles. I'm not seeing a reason for this to be parenthetically disambiguated.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  10:39, 23 June 2018 (UTC)
