Back in Army Basic, we were taught a version called, "The Drill Sergeant Can." I found later that if I sang it around annoying people, they would stay clear away from me. :) R3hall 00:16, 2 September 2007 (UTC)R3hall[reply]

Title

[edit]

Should it not be the Candyman??77.99.119.80 (talk) 15:50, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I would love to see the production notes for "Candyman." Backup vocals were provided by The Mike Curb Congregation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Curb) who recorded an earlier version of the song. The Davis cover has such a big Broadway/Vegas style sound with so much punch and wham. No wonder this version of "Candyman" topped the charts. It would be interesting to know who arranged it and what creative input the recording engineers at Polygram had. TheQueensShilling (talk) 15:22, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Lyrics?

[edit]

Can we add the original lyrics to the article? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.172.250.226 (talk) 00:55, 5 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think we need to consider the double entendre of drug dealer, which was common usage of the term "candy man" in the 1970s.

Note the Grateful Dead's lyrics:

Pretty lady ain't got no friend Till the Candy Man come round again

Proposed merge with Candyman (Zedd song)

[edit]

Says "It's a remake" Richhoncho (talk) 11:06, 2 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose - (I am the creator of the article that is proposed to be merged into here) Considering the fact that the song is independently notable, I would say that it should not be merged. Also, the melody and lyrics are "partially rewritten" ([1]), making the song not a remix. Thus, because of the difference between the songs and the independent notability, these articles should not be merged. RileyBugz会話投稿記録 12:25, 2 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
