Section 5
[edit]The Business being an anti fascist band is not a solid fact. Half of the band was in the Oi band Section 5, which has overt white power lyrics. -unsigned
- First, where did you get the idea that half of the members of The Business were in Section 5? I have seen photos of both bands, and have never noticed any shared members. Second, Section 5 had no white power lyrics, overt or otherwise. The personal politics of the band members and their friends is another issue, but lyrically, they did not promote racism.Spylab 20:15, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, I was just going to say that - I have never noticed anything remotely WP about Section 5's lyrics. There are, of course the various internet Chinese whispers, gossip and rumours about members of S5 being friends with members of WP bands or holding far-right views but AFAIK, there's absolutely nothing that can be reliably sourced to WP standards. S5's Tosh does play with The Business now, though - check their MySpace page. --Kurt Shaped Box 20:28, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
- The original poster's comment stands. Neither rebuttal has anything to do with whether "The Business being an anti fascist band is [...] a solid fact". --71.198.34.87 (talk) 18:33, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
- I agree with original comment. The song "blind justice" is about the persecution of nazi skinheads. Also, Lead singer has a neo nazi "88" tattoo on his chest. That is code for "heil hitler". 01:19, 30 January 2010 (UTC) bill
Mickey Fitz was/is patriotic and pro-working class... Not commie, nazi, racist or anything else the middle class appropriators would like to portray for whatever reason! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.211.35.108 (talk) 01:10, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
The first Section 5 demo insert has text that declares the band apolitical and anti-violence. One of the most prominent pictures of the band online shows them performing in front of a banner with a known white power symbol. It can be seen in the images for the band's entry in Discogs and elsewhere. The band has had a long history, long enough for for individual and group regrettable (regretted?) actions. I do not know enough to judge them but would like to know more. At least, as far as I have heard, they do not offer overtly racist lyrics. I would love to hear their side. I found this talk page trying to search for anything attributable to the group itself.--Tearaway (talk) 19:03, 10 March 2020 (UTC)
The Business discography
[edit]Support split - Discography section takes up more than one third of the page and should be split to a new article entitled The Business discography. --Jax 0677 (talk) 21:57, 2 May 2016 (UTC)
- The article isn't big enough to justify a split. --Michig (talk) 05:14, 3 May 2016 (UTC)
- I agree with User:Michig, it may take up a good proportion of the article, but it isn't long enough to warrant its own. sheridan (talk) 02:02, 3 December 2016 (UTC)
