Permanent solution

I have created an article to serve as the permanent page for this search, and to bring a sense of unity across related pages I have also created a series of templates. Leave any feedback here or on my talk page. This article needs expanding from somebody who has a high knowledge of both the strip and the show. All of the information I wrote I obtained from other articles. I specifically added a stub tag to the "Characters" section, where someone should expatiate on what I've started as soon as possible.

Article Severely Lacking

This article doesnt really explain what the cartoon is actually about. It spends a huge amount of time discussing differences between the strip and the series, and 0 time writing a synopsis. Bad.

Feel free to read the article and find out what it's supposed to be about before commenting. Doing so would allow you to discover that this article deals with the similarities and differences between the comic strip and the television show. Knowing this, you could then take proactive measures to fix the perceived problem instead of complaining about it. The article about the show that you are perhaps referring to is located here.

Agree with OP - this article is about the strip and all the space devoted to comparing the strip to the show should either be placed in its own sub-category or, more logically, moved to the show's page where it's more appropriate. RoyBatty42 21:46, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

Okay, now I see the problem - this article needs to be renamed or simply merged with the TV show one, where it belongs. If you do a search for "The Boondocks" this is the first hit you get. I thought the article was a bit skimpy. RoyBatty42 21:52, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

Template

It has been brought to my attention that the use of this image in a template doesn't qualify as fair use (see item # 9 of fair use policy). In order to keep the navigation box as is, I thus had to move all the syntax from the template to the article itself. Uh, the point is that it isn't gangsta. They used to live in the middle of Chicago(presumably a poor Black area) but now live in the middle of the suburbs. They are strangers in a strange land or fish out of water or some other metaphor. Gdo01 04:29, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

Actually, this is a misinterpretation. Woodcrest isn't a suburb of Chicago given that they had to take a commercial flight to Chicago in "Wingmen". The text is vague. I'll edit the excerpt to try and make it clearer.

Categories

This page is basically a disambiguation page. Although I understand why it was created, because of it's purpose, most categories do not fit in this article. By placing, for instance, Category:2000s American television series in this article, when you visit that category, you see two articles back to back. Which one is the article about the television show? If you say "both" then you are going agaist how WP is supposed to work. A viewer shouldn't have to choose and possibly pick the wrong article. It should be obvious (the answer is "the (TV series) article"). One way of making it obvious is having only one article per subject, and one listing per category. As such, I have removed most of the categories from the article, leaving Category:The Boondocks. La Cucaracha/Lalo Alcaraz

One of the things that needs to be mentioned if someone can find a source is the fact Lalo Alcaraz has repeatedly referenced The Boondocks in his own strip, rendering his own characters into an homage and renaming it "The Beandocks." Several of these strips have been outright pleas to McGruder to return to producing his strip. RoyBatty42 21:46, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

Redirect/DAB

Right now this article redirects to Boondocks (disambiguation), whereas previously it itself was a disambiguation page linking to two articles: The Boondocks (comic strip) and The Boondocks (TV series). While I understand why unnecessary disambiguation pages are undesirable, I would argue that the word "The" specifies the inquiry such that "Boondocks" and "Boondocks (song)" (the other two entries under Boondocks (disambiguation)) aren't likely targets for someone who types "The Boondocks." Also, the blanket-term, "Boondocks," doesn't redirect to its own disambiguation page, nor should it. If "Boondocks" doesn't redirect to "Boondocks (disambiguation)," "The Boondocks" certainly should not.

Furthermore, since "The Boondocks" has only two meanings (The Boondocks (comic strip) and The Boondocks (TV series)), isn't it justifiable to associate the two with hatnotes instead of using a disambiguation page to begin with? Or if this is an unusual circumstance wherein "The Boondocks" is more ambiguous than "Boondocks," entries like "Boondocks" and "Boondocks (song)" should not be entries on its disambiguation page.
