Lead

[edit]
  • The lead feels short and could fare better from a small expansion (or movement of content) in order to summarise the article better.
Tweaked a little. Don't forget we need to summarise so "moving" content isn't really a good solution. What else would you like to see in the lead? The Rambling Man (talk) 19:05, 12 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • The lead doesn't mention who the 1976 umpire was? (Is this a norm for Boat Race articles?)
I don't know, I can't remember what "norm" is considering I've written 122 of them...! Added umpire to lead. The Rambling Man (talk) 19:05, 12 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • "and featured the heaviest rower ever in Oxford's" - heaviest rower for both teams or just Oxford's team?
Oddly, removing "Oxford's" removes the issue, although it reduces the size of the lead! The Rambling Man (talk) 19:05, 12 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]
  • All the references in this article are in working order and appear reliable. The citations are also in the correct places so this meets the GA criteria.

On hold

[edit]

These concerns may seem trivial but as per the GA cup I'll have to put this on hold until those questions have been addressed in order for a successful review! The only issues standing in the way of this becoming GA is the lead section and a couple of other prose issues which could easily be addressed. I'll put this on hold for the standard seven days (despite it not needing that long!) and once those issues have been clarified then this should have no problem passing the GAN. Regards, Jaguar 17:12, 12 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure what the GA cup has to do with this nomination, but I appreciate your detailed review. The Rambling Man (talk) 19:05, 12 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry I should have been more specific, there is a new rule in the GA Cup where the reviewer has to leave comments and wait for the nominator to respond, otherwise I would risk disqualification! As with the 1975 Boat Race I thought about passing this one up front but there were a few issues that needed attending first. Jaguar 22:48, 12 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Close - promoted

[edit]

Thank you for you improvements made, the article now meets the GA criteria. The lead has improved and looks fine, as with all of the other prose issues. Along with the rest of the Boat Race GAs this one is very comprehensive, well-written and in depth. The references all check out and with that being said, everything else seems to meet the GA criteria. Looks like another Boat Race GA! Regards Jaguar 22:48, 12 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
