Starting first read-through. More soonest. Tim riley talk 18:29, 21 November 2014 (UTC)
Looking good. A few quibbles:
- Lead
- "three-and-a-half-lengths" – you don't want the fourth hyphen here
- Dehyphenated fourth. The Rambling Man (talk) 19:38, 21 November 2014 (UTC)
- "Goldie" – link, please
- Goldie won the reserve race while Cambridge won the Women's Boat Race – unless these two races took place simultaneously I'd recommend "and" rather than "while".
- Tweaked as suggested. The Rambling Man (talk) 19:38, 21 November 2014 (UTC)
- "three-and-a-half-lengths" – you don't want the fourth hyphen here
- Background
- "… point of honour between the two universities, as of 2014 it is followed…" – needs a stronger stop than a comma.
- How does a bold semi-colon suit you? The Rambling Man (talk) 19:38, 21 November 2014 (UTC)
- "Isis" – needs a link
- T'aint an article, as evidenced at Isis (disambiguation). One day, if I'm feeling kind enough to the Other Place, I may deign to create a crappy stub for it.... in the meantime, no dice. The Rambling Man (talk) 19:38, 21 November 2014 (UTC)
- "… point of honour between the two universities, as of 2014 it is followed…" – needs a stronger stop than a comma.
- Crews
- "including future coach Daniel Topolski" – using the false title here leaves the text ambiguous; I'd be inclined to say "including their future coach"
- Have reworded, not precisely as you suggested, but sort of like that. The Rambling Man (talk) 19:38, 21 November 2014 (UTC)
- In the table, I question whether 1st & Third Trinity was Church's college. His club was 1st & Third Trinity but his college was just Trinity.
- Now this is interesting. All "reliable sources" list these as their "colleges", and actually, Lady Margaret Boat Club (St John's, Cambridge) is the worst culprit altogether. I don't want to synth the data or pervert it despite our "knowledge", unless we strongly believe that we should change the title to "rowing club" which would probably cause three times as much confusion. After all, it's piped to Trinity... The Rambling Man (talk) 19:38, 21 November 2014 (UTC)
- "including future coach Daniel Topolski" – using the false title here leaves the text ambiguous; I'd be inclined to say "including their future coach"
- Race
- "Painter, the Dark Blue cox Painter" – too many Painters
- One Painter excised. Ouch. The Rambling Man (talk) 19:38, 21 November 2014 (UTC)
- After being warned twice by the umpire – not clear to the casual reader why they were warned.
- Given the reader a clue. The Rambling Man (talk) 19:38, 21 November 2014 (UTC)
- "Painter, the Dark Blue cox Painter" – too many Painters
Nothing too serious there, and the article is on course for GA, in my judgment. Tim riley talk 19:08, 21 November 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks Tim, very much appreciated. The Rambling Man (talk) 19:38, 21 November 2014 (UTC)
- All points thoroughly dealt with. I have to dash out now, but will be back to do the formalities of promoting to GA tomorrow. Tim riley talk 20:43, 21 November 2014 (UTC)
- Cool, have a nice evening. And thanks again for the review. The Rambling Man (talk) 20:47, 21 November 2014 (UTC)
