Will the real Mrs Veal please stand up?

[edit]

I recently read in the introduction to a collection of ghost stories that Mrs Veal has been verified as a real person. If so, it's not clear from this article. I'll check back and add the claim if my memory serves. MarkinBoston (talk) 20:04, 14 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

"Drelincourt upon death"

[edit]

The article says nothing about the allegation that Defoe wrote this pamphlet "for the express purpose of promoting the sale of an English translation of the Consolations", meaning the work by Charles Drelincourt with the English title "The Christian's Defence against the Fears of Death", referred to in the pamphlet as "Drelincourt upon Death". The Gutenberg ebook of Defoe's work appends a note "To the Reader" which makes this allegation, and the Wikipedia article on Charles Drelincourt also mentions it. Strange that it is not mentioned here. 180.150.36.211 (talk) 06:04, 22 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
