[edit]

Cleanup

[edit]

Some cleanup needs to be done regarding organization of these pages. I suggest a seperate page for the books and tv series, as well as merging characters into one main page, as there is not enough info to prompt a seperate page for each character. If I find the time, I may get to it myself. Altair 18:08, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Remodelling the Page

[edit]

I'll take it on to extensively rework the Animals of Farthing Wood page, as well as those of the characters. I haven't watched the complete second season, or any of the third season, but I have read all of the books (except for The Adventure Begins). In any case, I'll do my best. What I plan to do is provide a summary of each book, expand the information on each character, and rewire it so that everything fits descriptions of the books, as the UBC television programs are simply adaptations of the books. Alfakim and Altair, I'll gladly use your feedback during this lengthy process. MelicansMatkin

I have created a separate page for the actual book; the completed summary of the book shall be put onto that page. When thats completed, I'll start work on the other books, and then the characters. MelicansMatkin

Plot Summary

[edit]

At the moment the plot summary does very little to summarise the entire story of this book/series, and seems to just summarise the first few chapters/episodes, is this to be changed? It doesnt even state that they made it to White Deer Park, which seems quite important to me for a summary. Zephyr 04:19, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's a work in progress. I was starting on it before beginning on the Book's page, but I've distracted recently from working on it. MelicansMatkin 15:31, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Episode Summaries

[edit]

I'm currently working at expanding the very short epsiode summaries. If anyone cares to help, feel perfectly free. Danny 13:32, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fan Sites

[edit]

Perhaps we should add a list of fan sites to the article. Though not many remain a few are still active. Harshbarj 01:24, 18 Oct 2007 (CDT)

I've added a few links, but they're mostly to profiles on sites like the EBU and TV.com, I could only find one fansite that appeared active --Timata1705 (talk) 12:21, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Fans claimed.." piece seems to be from now defunct fansite that was filled with much information and used that said piece as intro text(more or less with current form and opinion of most fans, including me.).. Can't remember address of that site. --Yakuzakyuu (talk) 19:41, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Animals of farthing.jpg

[edit]

Image:Animals of farthing.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Pan-European Production

[edit]

Much more needs to be written about the production, given that this was an EBU project. The article currently says "episodes were made in both the UK and France", and most of the names listed as involved look English and French with some German and others. The actors have English names, but presumably this only refers to the version shown in the UK (and Ireland?), with a whole set of voice tracks being provided by each of the participating broadcasters, with actors from their own countries. The infobox also lists the country of origin as the UK and says it was first shown on the BBC. Is this true? I'm going to take it out pending a source given that we know this was a multinational EBU production. Which broadcasters specifically were involved and who contributed what? Where else was it shown and when? 79.64.189.185 (talk) 16:22, 17 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The list of European TV companies involved is in the end credits so that wouldn't be too difficult to find. As for the rest of the things you said, I'm really not sure where to find that information. Christophee (talk) 00:17, 18 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Various European casts found on relevant wikipedia pages for countries involved, and they all seem to think it aired first on the BBC too, particularly as in France it doesn't seem to have aired till over a year later than it aired in the UK--Timata1705 (talk) 15:15, 18 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Farthing Wood Wiki

[edit]

Just to let you guys know, I've recently created a new Farthing Wood Wiki on wikia.com which I would love you all to join and help me create a complete database of everything about the books and the TV series. Your help would be very much appreciated. Thank you very much! Christophee (talk) 01:13, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

UK Cast List

[edit]

Can somebody tell me where the list showing which characters were voiced by each UK cast member was found? Is there any way we can find out which cast member voiced all of the characters in the UK version of the programme? I'm trying to find out to help me with the Farthing Wood Wiki and it would be great to have the full list on this page too, just like the German cast list. Unprotect The Characters Article

[edit]

The Discussion page there is protected. I've edited there for many months and that meanie came and protected it. I want the protection unprotected or have protection expanded this instant or am I gonna do it myself. 58.7.187.142 (talk) 05:03, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

To request unprotection you have to visit WP:RFPP. As an IP, you will not be able to unprotect or expand protection yourself; that's a tool reserved for users with the necessary level of permissions. Melicans (talk, contributions) 05:09, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Alright. I'll use it. 58.7.187.142 (talk) 05:32, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

UK missing?

[edit]

Why isn't the UK in the list of "Broadcasts and releases"? I think it's the only country missing. 109.151.0.183 (talk) 20:25, 16 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Years later, it's still missing. I can't edit it myself as I'm not certain of the correct details, but someone should! 31.52.63.39 (talk) 15:27, 10 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
What, exactly, is missing from the "Broadcasts and releases" section that isn't elsewhere on the article? All some countries have is the name of the show and the channel it showed on. Presumably there is, therefore, enough information to add the UK to the list. But I honestly think it's worse that the UK cast is on a different formatting than the other casts (since this was not an UK-exclusive production, arguably the UK cast shouldn't get special treatment) and that the Brasilian and Autralian broadcasts, at the end of the list in question, are also on their own non-bullet-point format. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:8A0:7C0B:3A01:E117:A94A:B28:50EA (talk) 15:55, 10 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding "Differences between the books and the series"

[edit]

The last paragraph in this section gives an opinionated reason why the main plot of "The Siege of White Deer Park" was left out of the TV-series. This paragraph should be rewritten with the removal of the opinionated part (unless there are an actual statement from the creators, in which case it needs a reference). I personally find it hard to believe that a plot thread would be excluded form this TV-series because of too much violence/horror/death. Makes me think the one who wrote that statement never did see the show (yes, I needed to blow of some steam). If no one can find a proper reference for the statement, it should be removed.
