Date of publication?
[edit]In one part of the article it states this was first published in October 1844 and in another it states April 1844. Can someone clarify? The date of publication is significant in that he lived in several places in 1844 and if one can pinpoint when he wrote this story then presumably one could pinpoint where he wrote this story.
- The October date is correct. The article must have been changed somewhere along the way, but the source to which it was cited says October. Thank you for pointing out the discrepancy. I would caution, however, about assuming a connection between when it was published and when it was written. Poe could work for months or years on a single work before publication. --Midnightdreary (talk) 12:54, 1 April 2016 (UTC)
