This link below contains more information about programming in TASO as documented by the Harvard Business Publishing. The article fills in the gaps about Programmes, services, history, onset of ARV provision, funding (sources and challenges), information about Uganda, health in Uganda (especially HIV and AIDS), political strife and why TASO cut itself a niche in Global Health.Permission has been sought from Customer and Permissions Department to reference it. <redact> Sylvia Matovu (talk) 07:07, 21 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I redacted the link, as it is WP:COPVIO. We don't need that link as harvard makes the pdf freely available. The source is Kleinman S et al. for the Global Health Delivery Project at Harvard University. April 2011. Cases in Global Health Delivery: GHD-008 The AIDS Support Organization (TASO) of Uganda. Great source and good stuff there. Would you please propose content to use in the article based on it? Thanks. Jytdog (talk) 12:07, 21 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Replace first paragraph in OVERVIEW with the one below. This integrates paragraphs 1 and 3 making the Overview more in line with the actual literature available and will eliminate repetition.

The AIDS Support Organisation (TASO) is a Non - Governmental Organization started in Uganda in 1987 after Christopher Kaleeba, a radiographer, tested positive for HIV and suffered stigma and discrimination at the hands of his contemporaries in Mulago Hospital. Christopher, his wife Noerine Kaleeba and her friend Maria Lukubo (both physiotherapists in Mulago Hospital) started the group to encourage those infected and affected by HIV and AIDS within the hospital.[10][11][12]. They had all witnessed how badly patients showing signs of Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) were being treated on the wards in the National Referral Hospital Mulago Kampala.[1]

Insert this as paragraph 2 in Overview to make improve on the flow of information

It started out as a small informal group of people meeting to talk about HIV and AIDS [2] and grew into a Non Governmental Organisation registered in 1991. It then grew into one of the major HIV and AIDS care organisations in Uganda [3][4] . It was started when Uganda was just recovering from a war that brought the current Government to power [5] and HIV/AIDS was the leading cause of death in Uganda.

Bold textInsert this within the Overview because before the onset of ART, TASO clients survived purely on this. (reference in We Miss you all).

The TASO philosophy was centered on “Living positively with HIV and AIDS”, its vision “A world without HIV and AIDS while its mission was to contribute to a process of preventing HIV infection, restoring hope, improving the quality of life of persons, families and communities affected by HIV infection and disease.
