Speedy Deletion disputation

[edit]

The 88 is currently signed with major label Island Records and has released one album with them. Furthermore, their songs have appeared in hit shows such as The OC, Grey's Anatomy, Laguna Beach, The Real World, One Tree Hill, Weeds, and How I Met Your Mother as well as movies such as Failure to Launch, You, Me and Dupree, and Ira and Abby. They also have a spot on L.A. station KCRW's playlist.

Article is in desperate need of cleanup.

[edit]

1) None of the references provided are actually USED by the article. 2) The article (prior to my edit) was nothing but this page regurgiated on WP. That is not what WP is for. I'd recommend that the user who added those references find a way to actually use them in the article. As it stands now they don't seem to support any argument for noteability. -- TRTX T / C 14:32, 19 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Question of connection?

[edit]

I'm not very familiar with this band, but the name strikes me as something odd. The number "88" has been linked (though I can't say with what veracity) with neo-nazi sentiment. Is this band related to any neo-nazi groups? Does any of their music espouse nazi idealogy? Is this just pure coincidence? Maybe someone in the know could write up a section either supporting/discounting that notion? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.55.54.38 (talk) 04:30, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

88 is the number of keys on a piano. "The 88" is a slang term referring to a piano. I think it's more likely that the name refers to piano keys.-Link (talk) 12:19, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Another Cleanup

[edit]

I'm not usually one to edit Wikipedia articles in any major way, but I found the brutal POV on this page particularly offensive. I've toned down the Formation section from fawning over the band to slightly more just the facts. Let's hope 66.77.202.123 doesn't undo it again. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.69.150.231 (talk) 03:37, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
