This page has been edited with lots of misinformation. When I created this page, I meant to give information about THAPA, a caste withing CHETRI and a sub group withing MAGAR. Now it looks like , some people wants turn it into debating field about whether THAPA are CHETRI or THAPA are MAGAR.

It shouldn't be like that. In Nepali caste system there are lots of example of UPs and DOWNs of caste. No one has scholary evidence of whether CHETRI or MAGAR thapa originated from same ancehstors. If they have same anchestor also , it doesnt delete the History of two's. atleast for last 300 years, there has been separate line of Chetri Thapa and Magar Thapa. If logic of common anchestor proves any thing then all we have to say is we all people in the world are "African". Because, analysis of Genome and theory of Evolution says every one in world are descendents of People from one place of AFRICA.

so , those who are want to input in WIKI- thapa page, please let, this page give the discription of Two differnt THAPA separate identity. We cannot delete History by self loaded identity. Lets describe things as it is that is in the society. This will help the WIKI reader to get accurate information from WIKI -THAPA page.

Thapa term in the Indigenous Magar ethnic group

The "Thapa" word is always been a debate term between the Non-Indigenous Chhetri people and Indigenous Magar people. The chhetri people believes that this thapa term is linked to the Medieval Khasa Kingdom which means warrior. I have seen some nonsense theory about the Magar people being descendants of the Khas people which is very ridiculous. Main Thars of the Chhetri and Magar people are the same which is now become an issue and One editor mentioned that Buda Gharti Roka Thapa Rana of the Indigenous Magar were from the Khas Family. Here is the thing I wanna tell him. As representative man of Indigenous Magar people, I strongly believe that It is a wrong thing to incorporate the Indigenous magar people into the Khas fold. Thapa term in the Sino-Tibetan language means Man at the boarder and Buda means old aged or husband in the Khas language of Indo-European language. There is a serious study about these terms whether they were originally from the Magar or the Chhetri Khas. Now I come to the thing about the magar people being descendants of Khas people ? If it was true, then the magar people would look more of caucasoid features rather than mongoloid features. There is no any possibility of Khas ancestory in the Magar people because men of the Magar people didn't marry the women of khas people untill the modern time arrived. But when it comes to the Chhetri , Chhetri is a mixture of most ethnic groups and castes. Khatri are generally mix progeny of Bahun and Women of Indigenous Ethnic groups. In my villages there are many khatris who do ancestor worship with Bahun because Bahun married magar women and became khatri people. ***Around 30 percentage of the Chhetri people have some mongoloid features they are very different than Khas people of Far western Nepal. It is probably because of Mix progeny. There was a time , magar people used to be converted into the Chhetri due to the influence of the Hinduism. I have seen some Thars of Chhetri who looks like magars If there are some people of then then It is because of mixing But all of them who do ancestor worship together looks like magars Because they were magars once and converted into the Chhetri. Matwala Khas is mix progeny. Now you should understand It is khas people who is a mixture of all peoples. Raute Kusunda are linguistically closer to the Magar as well as Chepang , Dura . Some Tharu of some places have a relation with the Magar people . Most of the places and rivers of Mid western and western are named from the magar languages. And many historians and scholars belives that shah dynasty are the descendants of magar people. Thakuri people of Gandaki region were also the Magars. Famous Historian Dol Bahadur Bista was killed by saying this. Micha and Kancha of Shah Dyansty are the words of Magar language. Khand and Maski Rana of some places do ancestor worship together and Saru Thapa and Sen of some places do ancestor worship together. Besides this Khand and Sen are also the Upthar of Magar people. Khanduluk and Khanagaha which sounds like Khand are the Upthar of Magar. There was Sintupati Sen Magar King in the Mid 16 th century who was killed by Bhutia and Tibetans. Sen and Sendal are Upthar of Thapa Magar. There are more than 500 upthar of Thapa Magar and more than 3000 upthar of Magar . Thapa Magar Upthars in my Municipality are ; Puwar , Kuwar , Bagale , Saplangi , Daralmi , Pulami , Gorkhali , Kala , Kaucha, Gaha , Saru , Tarami , Salami , Asalami , Lamichane , Gurbachane , Purbachane , Resali , Ryang , Sinjali etc..... **** Even the names of Khasa rulers seems like the words of Magar language. Lde sounds like Lide or Lede , Sml sounds like Samal , Upthar of Thapa Magar. Khas language is a mix of Newar , Doteli , Magar , Indian. Nepali and Hindi language is very common where as the magar language is not same with Mongol language or not any other sino tibetan language. We are indigenous to the Mid western and Western Nepal .
