Overlapping articles?
[edit]What exactly is the relationship between this article and the one on Théâtre des Bouffes-Parisiens? They appear to overlap considerably. --Kleinzach 08:34, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
- That's a good question. The overlap has grown over time, which is probably not surprising, considering that Offenbach's Bouffes-Parisiens used both theaters. (BTW, the overlap existed before I split this from the Théâtre Marigny. It's really a separate issue, from whether this should be separate from that article.) I'm not sure how Bouffes-Parisiens material should be divided. Some repetition is better than too little. (Look at all the repetitious info you added to the article on La Gaîté Lyrique. It's something that is quite easy to fall into. I mentioned it at the time, but I didn't delete it.) We should just keep an eye on it try to keep it from getting out of hand. So far, after trying this split of this article from Théâtre Marigny, I think maybe it was a good idea to do it. Do you disagree? --Robert.Allen (talk) 11:02, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
- La Gaîté Lyrique is the primary article on the subject. Any duplicated material should be removed from secondary articles. As I have said on many occasions, I think overlapping should be kept to a minimum. I don't understand the phrase 'Offenbach's Bouffes-Parisiens used both theaters' . Who or what are 'Offenbach's Bouffes-Parisiens'? I only know the Théâtre des Bouffes-Parisiens. --Kleinzach 22:58, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
- The article La Gaîté Lyrique is on a separate topic, "a digital arts and modern music centre". It is independent and shouldn't be classified as a primary or secondary article.
- According to many sources Offenbach's company was Les Bouffes-Parisiens, including the license authorizing him to open the theatre (see Faris, p. 50).
- Théâtre des Bouffes-Parisiens is about a currently operating theatre in Paris that was founded and used exclusively by Offenbach's company.
- This article is about a theatre that was on the Champs-Élysées that was used by Offenbach's company. --Robert.Allen (talk) 03:08, 19 August 2011 (UTC)
