Is this definition correct?
[edit]This definition was popular in the early 19th Century. However, when theories predicted the size of mineral crystals to differ fundamentally from their orientations (or banding), texture then referred exclusively to the size of minerals and the relative sizes of minerals in rocks. (C.I.P.W. wrote extensively on this.)
I'm isolated from modern literature; but is it reasonable to combine into one term features that are individually explained by different theories? This may have recently been done, but it doesn't seem a good idea. Geologist (talk) 00:43, 14 January 2012 (UTC)
- This is quite an important subject, the term is used all the time, but it's often hard to find good definitions for these common terms - I'll see what I can come up with. Mikenorton (talk) 14:23, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
