Why is Futaba Channel listed as a textboard when it's an imageboard? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.235.59.172 (talk) 22:51, 19 December 2015 (UTC)

Please stop vandalizing the article.
[edit]I have reason to believe that Maximov1977 is associated with a Russian community that has been waging a spam and harassment campaign against Western textboards and imageboards for ~1 year now. If any administrators would like to talk with me on 1:1 chat, I can be contacted via IRC, XMPP, Matrix, and Discord.
Just because "textboards" have not been discussed in the New York Times or Wall St Journal does not mean that this kind of software and web-community is not relevant. I am citing Wikipedia policy Wikipedia:Ignore_all_rules to defend the existence of this article and its references to the Western "textboard" community and its software. If I have to work with journalists to get the information in the article discussed in a "reliable source," I will, but I am citing Wikipedia policy "context matters" -- anonymous, decentralized, underground web communities are still worthy of inclusion in the Wikipedia online encyclopedia project, even if they are unlikely to be extensively covered by secondary resources.

- Please stop advertising your personal websites on this article
- I think assuming I am waging a "spam and harassment campaign" against you because I removed a personal advertisement on this page is unnecessary and provocative.
- > I am citing Wikipedia policy Wikipedia:Ignore_all_rules to defend the existence of this article
- This policy is not a defense to vandalize articles with personal advertisements, you are not maintaining this article, you are adding unnecessary first-hand sources. To promote a website you are associated with, after users of this website, presumably including you, discussed it (https://4-ch.net/iaa/kareha.pl/1633710066/l50).
- I am not removing references to software or other large websites that may be relevant, but this decision was already made once, and your vandalism will likely continue to be reverted. Please do not further accuse me of engaging in "harssment and spam" because I removed the advertisement.

- You are accusing the author of the article of using the article to run "personal advertisements" and you are accusing me of "vandalism." Can you please go into detail about what you mean by this? I assume you are accusing me of WP:SOAPBOX for the article's inclusion of what is the largest example of an English language textboard in the English language article about textboards, but I am not following your argument.
- "[...] I am not removing references to software or other large websites that may be relevant, but this decision was already made once [...] "
- The changelog of the page does not support your argument that the inclusion of 4-ch is unwarranted because "a decision was made" -- your edit came BEFORE "decisions were made."
- "Please stop advertising your personal websites"
- I would love to see your argument for why the websites mentioned in the article are my personal websites, and how I am "advertising" them. I am ignoring your accusations of vandalism and "advertising" because you have not supplied an argument that properly expresses the feelings you are sharing, and I believe you are acting in bad faith.
- When I search for "textboard", the first Google result for a 4-ch thread appears after the first 10 results, and none other appear for me in the first 100 results. The result in question is for a thread about "a JSON index of English language textboards" -- I don't really understand your argument about this appearing in the search results is evidence of a "pro- 4-ch advertising agenda" that directly profits me.
- I'm reverting your edits which I believe are being made in bad faith.

- X153, Maximov1977: What matters is the question whether there is significant coverage in independent, reliable sources that would sufficiently demonstrate notability of these textboards. Only entries with existing Wikipedia articles or entries with references to reliable sources should be added. Until then these entries should remain removed from the article. – NJD-DE (talk) 10:41, 18 October 2021 (UTC)
