[edit]Isn't this the Westpark Tollway? --NE2 17:01, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
- My best guess is that it was supposed to be the Westpark-type extension into downtown, but they instead completely rebuilt the US 59 section parallel to it in the late 90s and 2000s. The land that the rail line was on inside 610 remains bare, but is extremely bottled in. 25or6to4 (talk) 20:09, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
Never mind - that was a Southern Pacific Railroad line. The Mopac had a line alongside FM 521 from East Columbia, entering downtown from the southeast, and another from the north alongside the Hardy Toll Road, but nothing in between. It's possible that TXDOT got the company name wrong. --NE2 21:11, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
I hadn't realized that MoPac (then UP-owned) bought the Katy Railroad in 1988-89, so that could be the one if TxDOT looked at the direct owner rather than the system (MoPac didn't actually merge with UP until 1997). The mileage also checks out, so that looks like the most likely route. --NE2 05:53, 16 June 2008 (UTC)
