Is this geo-electrical phenomenon real? Has anyone actually measured it? If so do we call it something else? --Dumbo1 20:58, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
Merge
[edit]- The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
- The result of this discussion was to merge article into World Wireless System ChetvornoTALK 20:31, 26 March 2015 (UTC)
Against. As it stands the information in this article is held elsewhere and therefore the article should be deleted. However if anyone wants to expand the article, it may well deserve to stay. Depends what's written. --Dumbo1 21:05, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
Support: This article is unsourced: none of the sources are WP:RSs. Corum is a well-known "alternative science" author. "Terrestrial stationary waves" (Schumann resonances) are not surface waves. This is OR FRINGE PSEUDOSCIENCE and needs to be merged, or preferably deleted. --ChetvornoTALK 22:00, 8 March 2015 (UTC)
Support delete: Three references predate the Taft administration, one is Fringe, and one does not mention "Terrestrial stationary waves" at all. If there is anything here that should be merged to another article that is fine with me, there is no reference I can see that would tell me what to merge where but better minds may see something. - The consensus seems to be for merger/deletion. I'd ideally like to delete it, since "terrestrial stationary waves" were something that Tesla thought up that turned out not to exist. But looking at Criteria for speedy deletion I don't really see that it falls under any of the specific criteria. Obviously invented doesn't apply to topics with a "credible claim to significance"; the term "terrestrial stationary waves" does have some historical significance. So the easy alternative is merger. The question is, what article is the term "terrestrial stationary waves" most relevant to? It could be a synonym for Schumann resonances; which are stationary waves of the Earth-ionosphere cavity. My feeling is it should probably be merged with one of the Tesla articles; either World Wireless System, since Tesla was going to base his proposed wireless power system on the waves, or Nikola Tesla. Does anyone have any ideas or preferences about this? --ChetvornoTALK 19:04, 23 March 2015 (UTC)
- Once you remove the WP:MADEUP and the Schumann Resonance (seems to have no relevance to Tesla's "bouncing waves inside the globe of the Earth" theory) we have nothing left to merge - so this looks like a redirect to World Wireless System, it explains this right now, a bit. That article could be expanded a little to further explain Tesla's idea. Fountains of Bryn Mawr (talk) 00:13, 24 March 2015 (UTC)
- Sounds good. If no one has an objection I'll perform the merger. --ChetvornoTALK 08:18, 24 March 2015 (UTC)

Proposal to merge into the "Surface wave" article.
[edit]I Agree.

- I think you got the page wrong. Please note above the page has already been merged into World Wireless System. The problem was that the original content didn't have any reliable sources. If you want to use the content on Surface wave or any other page you will need to provide sources, please read WP:sourcing. --ChetvornoTALK 23:39, 1 October 2015 (UTC)
