Categories
[edit]Categories exist on WP to allow readers to navigate between similar topics. "Red-linked" categories, which don't exist, serve no purpose. A gallery is not a painter, even though painters exhibit in galleries. And a gallery may exemplify or convey a visual arts theory or school, it isn't one in itself. Maybe that category should be added to Category:Aesthetic Realism. Will Beback talk 11:51, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
NPOV
[edit]This article just doesn't have that dull, boring tone we all want in an encyclopedia. "Innovative" doesn't belong in the first sentence, for example. Could we remove the peacock language and make this sound less promotional? Will Beback talk 11:59, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
- How's this? Removed all "innovative" "celebration" etc. Trouver (talk) 14:23, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
- That's a start. I think that someone unassociated with the gallery will eventually have to do some re-writing. Will Beback talk 23:21, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
- Done Two other editors have reviewed and revised copy and reformatted references (see below).Trouver (talk) 14:05, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
- BTW, if someone significant has called the gallery "innovative" then we can report their view. We just shouldn't use it without attribution. Will Beback talk 18:45, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

LDR citation style
[edit]I decided to add some references using the WP:LDR citation style. In order to reduce confusion, I will convert existing references to LDR style, so all are in the same style. Any questions, please ask.--SPhilbrickT 16:25, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
- I'm working on correcting the citation style for some of the refs, but it is slow going, given the age of many of them.--SPhilbrickT 18:01, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
Referencing changes
[edit]- The original reference , now <ref name="Mariano"/>, was originally to a search site. I replaced it with the actual site.
- I created several Smithsonian references to include the proper reference and the relevant footnote
- I changed the spelling of Sikes to Shikes, and added proper book cite with ISBN
- The original ref, now <ref name="Logic and Emotion"/>, listed a date of 17 December 1956, I found (if I can read it properly) 17 December 1955, so I changed the date.
- I rewrote the references to "Aesthetic realism: we have been there: six artists on the Siegel theory of opposites." I assume the refernces added included the authors of the individual sections; however, I was not able to find the individual authors. I did find a Google Books reference with the editor listed as authors - if someone can find a citation for the individual contributors, feel free to change. In addition, while "ibid" is standard in print, it is deprecated in Wikipedia.
- Improve Reiss citation
- Replace Russo cite (unfortunately, could only find pay site)
