Talk:Tengriism/to do

Having a little bit of knowledge about "Gods" in Tibetan Buddhism, please allow me to contribute as follows:

I looked up by chance the Page tengiriism, actually looking for the "Tenger people" from Indonesia. I came across the picture of Tengri. I recognized the relationship with the Buddhist Protector of the Tibetan people Palden Lhamo (see Wikipedia). Comparing the two pictures I recognise the similarities, namely 1. in he right hand the demon killer 2. in the left hand the skull filled with blood 3. under the sadle the skin of her son 4. around her waist the garland of skulls 5. on the horseleft of her left knee, the wound from an arrow that turned into an eye 6. The Crown with 5 skulls covered by a baldachine

Could it be that Tengri and Palden Lhamo are the same. I could imagine that Palden Lhamo has reached Mongolia through the Tibetan monks that visited this country some 1000 years ago and introduced Buddhism there? Lamaism would have spread the Religion of Tengri all the way to Turkey.

I have no better knowledge about the subject and would like to ask the writers of the Wikipedia texts to pl. have a look into my observations. --Peterbk (talk) 15:34, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
