I removed Ryanairs web link from this page.It is not relevant info for the Airport.If it is necessary to get information for ryanair one can get this info off their wikipedia entry.

Please STOP relating anything on this airport with the several accidents happening around there. NOT a single one of them had ANYTHING to do with either the airport itself or the Spanish controlers, not even the 1977 KLM-PanAm disaster (NEVER the Tower gave "Take Off Clearance" but the KLM took off without it) as the internationals reports clearly stated. Others happened when foreign pilots badly interpreted navigation charts and crashed into mountains ,etc.

Another lies like the airport is not ready for accepting 747 planes are also lies. In fact Iberia have been during lots of years operating the Madrid-Tenerife North with 747's and now with 340-600 . Preparations works for the 747 were completed before 1977 . The runaway was extended . An ILS was installed and fully operational.

Tenerife south Reina Sofia was under construction time before 1977 , so falses statesment like "it's construction was force by the KLM-PanAm 1977 disaster" are false. This is only one of the "errors" of the National Geographic "Seconds from disaster" famous documentary about the 1977 KLM-PanAm disaster. The other most important was that the interference "noise" was somehow a cause of the accident , when was only a FACTOR that was noted as a minor one in the official reports of the accident. The original recording of the 2 planes "black boxes" have never been released to the public, despite been all recovered intact.

Also I removed the link to this site , http://www.project-tenerife.com/ . It's a dutch site that misrepresent the facts only to blame the Spanish Air controlers. The dutchs insinuated that the tower controlers were hearing a football match on television on the tower at the time of the collision !!! . Of course they never provide evidences to support that accusation . The controlers at Tenerife Los Rodeos were Military controlers and all the tapes were examined and only found background noise on a busy day , lots of planes diverted to this airport because of the closing of Gran Canaria airport due to the bomb threat there. Still today some dutchs continous propagating this lie, even after years of scrutiny of all the tapes. Neither the Spanish, nor the american , nor any other neutral party gave the dutch lies any credibility .

The previous entries of a german contributor falsely atributing the location of Tenerife North as a "mistake" are just lies.

Previous entries, I have removed, like Tenerife North Airport (Los Rodeos) is bad located are WRONG. When the airport was constructed ONLY the NORTH of Tenerife Island was populated, the south of the island was a desert . Tenerife North Airport is on the outskirts of sana cruz,the capital of tenerife, that's the main reason for it's location .

In fact after Tenerife South Airport (Reina Sofia ) was finished, the airport continued to operate and not only that, but NEW terminal and equipment have been added to the airport to better serve Tenerife North and Santa cruz , while Tenerife South Airport serve the beach resort of the south of the island.

Tenerife North Airport (Los Rodeos) in 2005 moved 3,754,333 passengers an 11% increase over 2004.

Tenerife South Airport (Reina Sofia) ,built to serve the new beach resort at the south of Tenerife island, in 2005 moved 8,631,776 passengers a 0.1% increase over 2004.

Tenerife North is predominant travelers from Germany,spain,italy,and people using the budget airlines,also a major hub for inter island flights.

RE: the above post it seems obvious to me that the above poster has some kind of vested interest in the airport- dare I suggest that because it has recently regained much of its traffic after the disaster, its administrators or investors don't want people to read that it so happens to have been, as a simple matter of historical fact and certainly not coincidentally, among the deadliest airports of its size. i might suggest it's the bad terrain and weather conditions.

i don't deny that there may be some interested parties trying to hijack this article to deliver some opposing message, but that doesn't mean that one side gets to "win" the dispute on this page by censoring undesired information.

It certainly seems, both from number and content of ghits 21.1k for los+rodeos+airport-wikipedia and 83.3k for tenerife+north+airport-wikipedia that the name for the airport, both perceived and actual, is Tenerife North Airport. Los Rodeos appears to be an alias. There is a little ambiguity, however, as there appear to be references to North Rodeos Airport Tenerife. Is there anything that might be considered an authoritative source? The same would go for Tenerife South Airport - Tiswas(t/c) 08:44, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ok Sorry im getting annoyed about this but why cant anyone take my word for this or if not the links i keep asking for you to read I CAN SEE THE AIRPORT FROM HERE !!! there is NO LOS RODEOS AIRPORT ,there WAS a airport called TENERIFE INTERNATIONAl AIRPORT (TCI) built on top of the LOS RODEOS Airfield,but the name was changed to TENERIFE NORTH AIRPORT (TFN)when TENERIFE SOUTH AIRPORT (TFS) opened in 1978 thats 29 years ago!!!!!! I support the merge, but as I mentioned before, more than one editor (before me) reverted the changes (possibly because the move wasn't done correctly). You have to wait at least five days after the merge tag has been placed to give others time to voice their objections. Since there probably won't be any, the minimum five days should be fine. I'll put the merge tag up now, which means that the merge can be completed on the 23rd. Do not do it before then, as it will once again be reverted. If you wish to make constructive changes to the article, make them on the Los Rodeos page; these can then all be copied over to the Tenerife North article. Tenerife North

The correct name of the airport is Tenerife North Airport; it was called Los Rodeos once, but since more than 15 years were recalled Tenerife North. See [http:www.aena.es], the site of the airport operator. Los Rodeos is incorrect. TCI was the IATA-key for Tenerife as a global destination (means TCI=TFN+TFS), the same as NYC is the sume of the three New York airports. 213.96.125.217 23:41, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
