A fact from Tell al-Fakhar appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 16 April 2011 (check views). The text of the entry was as follows:
Did you know... that, according to the excavator, the more than 3000-year-old "Green Palace" of Tell al-Fakhar in Iraq was pillaged and burned with the defenders still inside?
Interesting. And an interesting onlince source; I did not know that. There seems to be some confusion on the location of this site (which does not surprise me). I will look into it.--Zoeperkoe (talk) 15:00, 5 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I have found other coordinates in the vicinity of those I posted, but none seem to be accurate. However, the region is somewhat limited by the description given on that website as "ca. 45km south-west of Kirkuk and 35km south-west of Yorghan Tepe (Nuzi) in Iraq". In my own database I have this entry :-) ♆ CUSH ♆15:54, 5 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I am pretty sure those coords are incorrect. The site report does not mention a wadi next to the site. It does however say that there is a wadi 2km north of Fakhar. Plus that your identification is almost due south of Kirkuk/Nuzi, instead of SW. But I keep looking into it.--Zoeperkoe (talk) 16:00, 5 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Very good. I want this placemark for my own collection as well :-) What site report do you use? I would like to have information about settlement phases. ♆ CUSH ♆17:13, 5 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
What I used is in the bibliography. However, you will need a good university library to find these; none of it is accessible online.--Zoeperkoe (talk) 17:16, 5 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
