8 digits in Mexico City
A Mexico City phone number has 8 digits, normally written as 4 pairs, 12 34 56 78.
The North American 123-4567 pattern is not used. Should the article note the Mexican practice?
The above statement is inaccurate. Through out Mexico there are multiple ways of notating phone numbers. This is true for Mexico City too. It is not uncommon seeing numbers in Mexico City as XXXX XXXX, XXX XX XXX, or XXX XXX XX. The introduction of a new area code for Mexico City is creating additional changes as it is necessary to dial 10 digits for all local calls.
Do Monterrey and Guadalajara also use 8, making a total of 10 with area code? Varlaam (talk) 22:03, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
Monterrey and Guadalajara's phone numbers are 8 digits long.
In addition to the above, there are 4 cities that have overlay area codes making it required to dial 10 digits for all local calls (Tijuana BC, Leon GT, Toluca EM, and Puebla PB).
