Teddy Wilson Photo

[edit]

There is a photo of Teddy Wilson in the Wikipedia Commons. I have updated that image with the descriptive information from the Library of Congress that indicates that Teddy Wilson is sitting at the piano.

I am not clear how to place this photo in the article.

Date of Death?

[edit]

This article claims that Teddy Wilson died in 1986. However, it also states that Teddy Wilson starred in "Life Stinks" with Mel Brooks in 1991. Teddy Wilson was in a movie 5 years after he died?????? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.215.28.114 (talk) 12:27, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In case other people wonder about this, that was Theodore Wilson aka Teddy Wilson the actor. Dickdock (talk) 14:03, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Teddy Wilson and Chick Webb

[edit]

In the article it is mentioned that Wilson worked with Speed Webb. I believe you mean Chick Webb who also "discovered" Ella Fitzgerald.

No, Lawrence "Speed" Webb was an entirely different person. Philip Cross (talk) 18:51, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You cannot write he was known as "the marxist Mozart" without explanations. Is it clear for american reader ?(french visitor) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.81.14.212 (talk) 16:50, 11 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Teddy Wilson

[edit]

In the above article it indicates that Teddy played in Benny Goodman's Orchestra in the Billie Holiday Sessions of 1936-'37. If you check under several detailed discographies you will find that these sessions were with the Brunswick Label and the 78's are all showing Teddy Wilson and his Orchestra. Benny Goodman played many sides in these sessions under Teddy's name. Bigger fame came to Teddy as pianist in Benny Goodman's orchestra and during intermissions while the band took a break, Benny and the trio(Gene Krupa and Teddy Wilson) would perform. Later Lionel Hampton was brought in with his vibes making the legendary Benny Goodman Quartet. 142.167.116.212 (talk) 05:07, 9 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm Yeeun Kim and I will be revising this article as part of my class on chamber music literature this spring. This assignment aims to illustrate the stylistic feature of Teddy Wilson's music and describe his musical influence on other pianists. I look forward to your feedback on my revisions!
