The article, upon first glance, seems to want to use language that obscures the fact this man has been convicted of kidnapping multiple people and papers over the controversy of his methods. I'm going to avoid any accusatory language like I've seen in previous edits, but I think the fact that he is a convicted kidnapper needs to be in the introduction. That is both notable and confirmed by many reliable sources already in the article. Carlp941 (talk) 16:32, 8 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This whole article needs a clean up IMO, things are repeated for weak reasons, the very poorly named section on "proceedings" needs to be broken up, and the introduction needs to be a proper introduction. I'll be making some bold edits today. Carlp941 (talk) 16:36, 8 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Carlp941 did not edit the article, but various IPs have continued to attempt to add "convicted kidnapper" (or similar wording) to the short description or to the first line of the lead. I don't think that should be added without a consensus here that is what the person is known for. Meters (talk) 04:49, 26 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
He is certainly known for being a kidnapper and some reference to that is due in the lead. He was convicted of kidnapping, among other things, in 1980, which is covered in the article. But the convictions are minuscule in number compared to the number he actually claimed to have perpetrated or been involved in. Harold the Sheep (talk) 21:02, 26 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
