Discussion
[edit]so what's all this about "This article or section seems not to be written in the formal tone expected of an encyclopedia entry. Please improve the article or discuss proposed changes on the talk page. See Wikipedia's guide to writing better articles for suggestions"
we're talking professional wrestling here, not pharmaceutical science

Should the WWF Championship be listed among DiBiase's accomplishments? Granted there's a big "however" in parentheses immediately following "1-Time WWF World Heavyweight Champion", but since he wasn't officially recognized as champion and didn't win the belt, should that be there at all? I'm not arguing to remove the section in the main article that deals with Andre trying to sell the belt to him, I just don't think that his "reign" should be listed among his accomplishments. Thoughts? ekedolphin July 4, 2005 07:42 (UTC)
- I'd have to agree with that. WWE.com doesn't recognize him as a former champion. --Chrysaor July 4, 2005 16:36 (UTC)
- It should be noted, however, that Ted DiBiase defended the WWF Championship for a week on house shows until WWF aired the Jack Tunney promo declaring the title vacant. So, while WWE doesn't officially recognize him as a champion, he was introduced for that one week as the champ, and did defend the belt successfully. --Brandon Myers 06:41, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
- If he defended the belt successfully, then he was the champion, as he would have been declared "The winner and Still the world champion" at these matches.
- According to the title's history on WWE.com, he was never the WWE Champion. If that's the WWE's position, the it would be inaccurate to label DiBiase as being the champion. It would be substituting opinion for fact. It doesn't matter if anyone disagrees with the fact, it's WWE canon. Even if he held the title and defended it during the week, it's not enough. WWE has to recognize it. Odin's Beard 00:20, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
- But even the WWF cannot rewrite history ... Biase wrestled as champion, from what I gather above, for two weeks. Whether should appear in lists however is another matter, but his claim is more valid than that of the Rockers or the Rougeuas regarding the Tag Team Titles. - House shows are generally not considered "canon" in kayfabe.

- Actually, the WWE can do pretty much whatever they want to do with their own championship. If the powers that be at WWE have decided that Ted DiBiase was never officially recognized as the champion, then that's all there is to it. It doesn't matter what anyone's personal opinion might be. Ted DiBiase being "awarded" the title by Andre The Giant was all part of the storyline to declare the title vacant so the tournament could be setup for WrestleMania IV. On the WWE.com website, DiBiase is not listed in the WWE Championship title history as ever holding the title. Since the WWE doesn't recognize him as a WWE Champion, then it can't go into the article. Odin's Beard 23:45, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
- I don't know who put that DiBiase's WWF Championship reign is, quote, "in the record books," but that's completely wrong. Even if you want to argue that he was a de facto champion (which I don't think is supported either), his reign is definitely not in any record books. WWE's title history doesn't recognize it (see http://www.wwe.com/inside/titlehistory/wwechampionship/), nor do other records (see, e.g., http://www.onlineworldofwrestling.com/profiles/t/ted-dibiase.html). Even DiBiase's own website doesn't have a record of him being a former WWF Champion (see http://www.milliondollarman.com/titlehistory.html). That reign was never recognized and is certainly not in any record book.
- The way it stands is that a champion can do whatever he wants with a belt, which is what Jim Ross said when Mark Henry defended the European Championship against D-Lo Brown at Unforgiven 1999. Jeff Jarrett gave it to Henry after beating D'Lo with Henry's help to win back the European and Intercontinental Championships. This has happened at least one other time when Shane McMahon gave Mideon the European Title. A champion can do whatever he wants with a belt.

I removed the WWF World Championship reign from his accomplishments. Not sure why that was in there. WWE does not recognize this. It should also be removed from the List of WWE Champions reigns page. Thanks.
Sons
[edit]Okay, his son Mike DiBiase isn't a junior so why is it stated on the page? Is that just to distinguish him from his gradnfather? (MgTurtle (talk) 02:35, 12 December 2007 (UTC))
Because of his other son, Ted DiBiase Jr., who is mentioned on the page.
Lifestyles of the rich and famous?
[edit]I only remember bits and pieces since I was a young kid then, but I'm sure he was featured in an episode on this show many years back, does anyone out there recalls this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.31.45.49 (talk) 01:54, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
College?
[edit]If he's in a fraterntity, he went to college, right? So what college? --AW (talk) 17:34, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

West Texas State University. Read the article, it's mentioned. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Stefanroark (talk • contribs) 18:34, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
According to his first book, he was first offered a scholarship to Arizona State, but changed his mind after Terry Funk convinced him that by going to WTSU, he could play Division I football and wrestle. Bobbyknightmare (talk) 00:59, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Last sentence in first paragraph
[edit]It states that Ted nor Roddy Piper have won a world championship.Roddy Piper has won a world championship (NWA Championship). Is this a mistake or does this mean that he didn't win a world championship in the WWE or WCW?(MgTurtle (talk) 13:58, 18 July 2008 (UTC))
- Little problem - Piper never won a singles world title in the NWA - which I believe is why it corretly states that he hasn't. Check the history if you think I'm wrong. MPJ-DK (talk) 19:13, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
Intercontinental Championship Tournament
[edit]From what I understand the tournament to crown the first WWF Intercontinental Champion was a ficticious tournament. Is there anyway to get a citation to back this up. There is no footage of this tournament or none that anybody knows of. Plus Pat Patterson was never a South American Champion. It is said that Ted Dibiase brought in the NWA North American Champion than it became the WWF North American Championship. But it also has been said that WWF just made him the WWF North American Champion. So if we could get some references and citations it should be noted. Mr. C.C. (talk) 06:24, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
- The tournament was fictional, as was the supposed unification. Darrenhusted (talk) 11:52, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

Arizona-Nebraska move?
[edit]In the "Early life" section, we've got: "Ted was moved to Willcox, Arizona to live with his grandparents. He attended Creighton Preparatory high school" Is this the Creighton Preparatory School in Omaha, Nebraska, as claimed in the notable-alumni section of that article? If so, there should be some mention of when and how DiBiase moved from Arizona back to Nebraska. --Ammodramus (talk) 15:15, 27 August 2011 (UTC)
Scottish Wrestling Entertainment
[edit]I'm not sure if this is noteworthy enough for inclusion in the article, but in 2011, DiBiase bought Scottish Wrestling Entertainment. Not a big company, occasionally features appearances from wrestlers with a history with WWE, WCW and TNA (Diamond Dallas Page, Chavo Guerrero Jr., Tatanka, Bret Hart, Roddy Piper, Doug Williams, Virgil, Rory McAllister, etc). Is it worth a mention in the article?
