Several issues
[edit]This page needs some sources: a lot of it seems to be derived from straight from Spielberg's film. It should at least be listed as the only source for this material if it is so.
Regarding the use of the word "kidnapping" in regards to taking the Africans from their homeland--I used the word not so much to express the particulars of Portugese law, but to reflect the nature of them being taken (by whomever it was who took them, Portugese traders or their fellow Africans) from their homes to where they were sold to the Portugese aboard the Tecora. I've changed it back (from "caught" in a previous edit) since I think that word better reflects the nature of that event.
However, if "kidnapping" is just too legal sounding or something, I would suggest a word like "captured" "taken" or "enslaved" rather than "caught" since that word sounds rather mild to describe the process of being snatched from one's homeland....

It is the 21st of June as I write this, but maybe you know some way of editing in the future? I am intrigued.
I don't see the relevance of detailing this one specific voyage made concerning the captives later made immortal aboard La Amistad. Didn't this ship make many such voyages? This seems more like a narrative about a group of people who already have a page for their story, and less of a description about the ship itself. However, I will not take the liberty of editing the page at this time, but rather await other opinions on the matter.

The voyage in question is the one for which the ship is the most famous. While the article as written does focus upon that one voyage it is the one that is both the best documented and serves as a good example of the ship's activities, so I think it should stay. The article focuses on events particular to the ship, not the whole story of the people on that voyage itself--which is contained in other articles.
