Orphans ?
[edit]King says not all of the children taken were orphans.Te Puea took children from parents still alive. The details are murky. As they grew Te Puea used them as an unpaid workforce to build her dream of a kingitanga village. During the depression a lot of Kiwis were happy to work for just food and lodgings but they felt no sense of obligation, as Te Puea's workforce did to their political leader.
