Coyote name
[edit]Should it say coyotes rather than eastern coyotes? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:18D:4701:C4A0:997C:F02:DE6F:5219 (talk) 20:35, 4 February 2019 (UTC)
Official website
[edit]In the course of changing the infobox i also noticed that Taylor's website had been going offline periodically and would have revised content when it came back online. Presently none of the links are working. Only the index page is available. If someone else notices that this has ceased please remove my note that it is going through re-design and may be offline. delirious & lost ☯ TALK 14:58, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
Kinda sad, to me, that she didn't have a wikipedia article until her death. --Chibiabos (talk) 02:42, 30 October 2009 (UTC)
- I was working on an article but the music notability requirements can be difficult to meet for an i) independent ii) folk musician who has only released one album. When i heard the tragic news I didn't want to create her article only to have it deleted for one event notability. I later worked what i had into the newly created article. "You should live your life the way you think you should and not listen to the nay-sayers." ~ Taylor Mitchell, during her last concert, 25 October 2009. Only the good die young. delirious & lost ☯ TALK 16:52, 30 October 2009 (UTC)
Clarity
[edit]The language in the article is a little unclear. And the section on her death reads more like a book report about coyotes than an explanation of the details of her death. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.143.220.132 (talk) 17:01, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
Coyote photo
[edit]I think it is inappropriate to put a photo of a coyote in this person's biography, especially since a photo of her is not even included. A mention of her cause of death is sufficient to explain it without graphic aids. Everyone who understands the concept of a fatal coyote attack should know what a coyote looks like. Also, all information about coyote attacks in general should be deleted, and moved to the article about coyotes, or a new article about coyote attacks. Her life was not about this, yet this subject dominates her biography. She should not be made a "poster child". Mal7798 (talk) 03:05, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
- Couldn't agree more. It is gratuitous, silly, and inappropriate. DoubleBlue (talk) 04:43, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
- Yep. I agree. I think that's enough reason to pull it out. It'd be like including a picture of a guitar or microphone, except a little more insensitive. tedder (talk) 04:45, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
- I put the photo and agree it was not a good idea. --Neozoon 23:16, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
- It was done in good faith, so no worries. tedder (talk) 23:28, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

Should the coyote attack be in the intro?
[edit]Concur with the above statements that generic coyote info (random facts, unrelated pics, comments on other attacks), etc. aren't pertinent to the article. That said, shouldn't the fact that she's basically the only adult known to be killed by a coyote be mentioned in the intro? In fairness, she did receive significant international recognition for the unusual circumstances of her death, and to avoid that in the intro seems a bit evasive. MatthewVanitas (talk) 03:04, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
- Yep, it should be in the lede. I'd do it except I can't do it delicately enough. tedder (talk) 03:09, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
- I gave it a try. If any one can improve on it i would welcome it. delirious & lost ☯ TALK 09:48, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
- It is in the intro in the german wiki article too. Keep it. It is sad but it was the reason that she was mentioned in the media. --Neozoon 23:07, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
- It's the reason this article exists. Really we should move it to Taylor Mitchel coyote attack and not say much about her music. The only reason we don't is because doing so feels mean and makes people feel sad. Chrisrus (talk) 18:34, 18 July 2016 (UTC)

Accurate birth date
[edit]After a few months working on this article off-wiki i finally stumbled across mention of Taylor's birth date as 27 August 1990 on cdbaby.com. Her birth date has been absent from all more reliable sources, including her obituary in Toronto Star. If anyone happens to have a more reliable source it would be nice to substitute it. One CTV ref from October '09 quotes her manager as saying, "She just turned 19 two months ago." delirious & lost ☯ ~hugs~ 03:02, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks D&L. I think that's reasonable, especially because the CTV ref backs it up. tedder (talk) 06:52, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
- My concern is that while cdbaby.com is an excellent online retailer for indie music they usually get their artist bios from other places. There is possibility that the birth date listed there comes from the CTV article. That is why i am inviting anyone who finds another ref to include it. delirious & lost ☯ ~hugs~ 16:21, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
Coyote attack
[edit]I mentioned serveral edits by IP that aim on remove the coyote attack from the article. I reverted a change in the intro mentioning that she has been the second adult person killed by coyote attack since there was no explanation or reference given for this statement. I think this kind of changes should come with explanation and / or reference. --Neozoon 21:53, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
- True there should be reference for such editing but a reference for such a claim would be fictitious. There was coverage from many reliable media outlets that would contradict any such reference. Thank you for your help in watching over this article. delirious & lost ☯ ~hugs~ 05:57, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
"She is the only adult person, and second person overall, known to be fatally attacked by coyotes."
[edit]There are no sources supporting this statement on a global level. She might be the only adult in the US, but to claim this worldwide there would have to be more sources.91.39.102.115 (talk) 10:29, 10 December 2013 (UTC)
- Coyotes are not global, and we have nothing here that proves she'd ever been to the US. Chrisrus (talk) 13:30, 10 December 2013 (UTC)
- This attack was in Canada, where she lived, not the US. Mal7798 (talk) 01:20, 18 July 2016 (UTC)
Death
[edit]According to her grave, she died on the 27 of October. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:18D:4701:C4A0:2847:EC55:926C:1911 (talk) 14:19, 8 March 2018 (UTC)
- Well according to the sources she died at 3:30 AM on the 28th. You'd have to come up with a compelling reliable source if you wanted to change it. -- Fyrael (talk) 16:50, 8 March 2018 (UTC)
Nat Geo documentary says coyotes were part wolf
[edit]I saw the documentary 'Attack in the Wild : Coyote Mystery' on February 6, 2022; and in the program it stated that Eastern coyotes had crossed with wolves, near Ontario; and that the coyotes that attacked Ms Mitchell were the hybrid ones.
I thought it odd, that the coyotes that were responsible for the attack had nothing to suggest that they were part wolf.
The documentary said that the aggressive behavior and their lack of fear of humans, were characteristics of wolves. Yet in this wikipedia page, says otherwise. (204.48.77.184 (talk) 17:22, 9 February 2022 (UTC)) 204.48.77.184 (talk) 17:22, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
New 2022 findings.
[edit]I added a quick note and a citation but someone better at writing like an encyclopedia could really touch it up. CanningIO (talk) 23:37, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
