Timeline Discussions
[edit]Master Shimabuku's teachers began with his uncle. In the early 1930's, Shimabuku began structured training under Master Kyan. He then went on to study with Miyagi around 1936, and finally Master Motobu around 1938. See [1] Also see [2] Noxia (talk) 22:29, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit]- I removed professor Brown as a notable student as he is not listed in any references. Noxia (talk) 22:32, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
- I have found Edward Brown on a couple of websites, but no inference of notoriety. Noxia (talk) 17:58, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
- Sanchin was the last empty hand kata (at least in the isshinryu i was involved in) (unsigned)
- I think a simple timeline would be helpful. He had a busy life. RCHM 20:13, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

- Is there supporting evidence for Master Shimabuku having a stroke while practicing Sanchin? I have not found corroborating evidence, and there is no reference. Sanchin is a debatable topic in karate, and rumors start easily! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.54.16.254 (talk) 21:58, 25 January 2012 (UTC)
Title should be corrected to “Tatsuo Shimabukuro,” not “Tatsuo Shimabuku.” So many publications out there have his name incorrectly spelled his last name. Toshihiko Susuki (talk) 15:55, 30 September 2018 (UTC)
Some people with “Shimabukuro” last name in Okinawa are also known or called as “Shimabuku.” There are so many Shimabukuro last names in Okinawa and depending on which regions one live in Okinawa, Shimabukuro can be called Shimabuku and vice versa. As in English written last name, “Shimabukuro” is correct as it is how it supposed to be pronounced. Toshihiko Susuki (talk) 14:46, 1 October 2018 (UTC)
