Moved to Tatars in Lithuania. After much-extended time for discussion, there is a clear consensus among participants that a move to the alternative proposal of "Tatars in Lithuania" would be a satisfactory outcome. Several boldface "oppose" !votes specifically endorse this alternative. Therefore, there is a clear consensus that the article should be moved away from its present title, and a substantial majority either favoring or expressing acceptance of the alternative proposal. Lithuania Tatars → Lithuanian Tatars – Currently Lithuanian Tatars redirects to Lipka Tatars, who are actually Polish-Lithuanian Tatars (Tatars of Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth). Lembit Staan (talk) 20:31, 7 January 2021 (UTC) Lembit Staan (talk) 20:31, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
- Support per nomination. The form "Lithuanian Tatars" is analogous to such other forms as Chinese Tatars, Crimean Tatars, Siberian Tatars or Finnish Tatars. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 03:01, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose. If this article is about the contemporary community of Tatars in Lithuania, it should be titled descriptively to make that clear. The terms "Lithuanian Tatars" and "Lipka Tatars" are synonyms and refer to a specific ethnic group that is, indeed, not limited to Lithuania. The proposed move will create confusion, as does the current title. I suggest "Tatars in contemporary Lithuania" or "Tatars in the Republic of Lithuania". Srnec (talk) 21:18, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
- Support. At first I was going to agree with User:Srnec, but I prefer consistent naming (and hatnotes/disambigs/see als). I created a few redirects, and I would not be opposed to Tatars in Lithuanuia (just like Poles in Lithuania, see Category:Ethnic groups in Lithuania for the format). I think that we should split the Lipka Tatars article into a historical one and present-day Polish Tatars (which redirects there). Note that Lipka Tatars article on pl wiki is pl:Tatarzy w Polsce (Tatars in Poland). The other option would be to rename Lipka Tatars and adjust the lead, which right now is confusing, suggesting the article is about a historical entity only, but later discussing the Lipka_Tatars#Present_status. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 06:57, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
- I could support Tatars in Lithuanuia. Srnec (talk) 01:37, 13 January 2021 (UTC)
- Support. Well, Lipka Tatars and Lithuania Tatars as such, are the same community. In the current arrangement, there is little sense in having an article for Tatars in Lithuania (Lithuania Tatars) and an article for Tatars in Belarus and Poland (Lipka Tatars). Moreover, in the Lipka Tatars article, it is written in the infobox - Lietuvos totoriai. Both articles should be fused, the articles concern one and same community. Plus, the Lipka Tatar article already has the boxes "Ethnic groups in Lithuania" and "Ethnic groups in Poland", which concern the modern countries. Lipka Tatars, while being of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, they were only in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania 1300s-1569, and even in the PLC, the Tatars maintained themselves mostly in the former GDL (while not being exclusively limited to).--Itzhak Rosenberg (talk) 07:54, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
- Support. "Lithuania Tatars" is just not English. A hatnote is fine to point to the Lipka Tatars. -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:30, 14 January 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose Support "Tatars in Lithuania" to unambiguously refer to the population in Lithuania, the ethnic group already has a separate article Lipka Tatars. I would also support a merge. (t · c) buidhe 00:59, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose. I personally support Tatars in Lithuania. --► Sincerely: SolaVirum 20:35, 16 January 2021 (UTC)
