Film reception and questions about style

[edit]

While aware of the starting status of the article, I should like to propose some adds and a remark.

In regard of the reception, despite the critical acclaim achieved by the film, the praises were not universal. Roger Ebert, for example, included it on his "Most hated films" (http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050811/COMMENTARY/50808002) , and noted, in the main article of his review (http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/19980227/REVIEWS/802270309/1023), that it was booed at its end in Cannes. not only the above, but Mr.Kiarostami made this film after daryush shokof made his incredible debut "seven servants" in 1996. his film did not even get selected by Cannes film festival. neither did his film Breathful (an extraordinary attempt in making a film with an all women cast in 2007) and again shokof,s film did not get picked up by any European film festivals. oddly enough Kiarostami makes an all women Iranian film and the film (which i think should be an art video rather than a film) is again picked by the Venice film festival in 2008. strangely enough shokof,s name does not appear anywhere as an iranian artist,......let alone one of the grand iranian thinkers at all???!!! And about the "Style" paragraph, I think it holds some kind of personal analysis, for it claims: "Like the coexistence of private and public space, or the frequent framing of landscapes through car windows, this fusion of distance with proximity can be seen as a way of generating suspense in the most mundane of moments." Altough the opinion is interesting, it resembles a professional review, for it includes some praiseworthy and complex writing, without citing the origin of that opinion.

Roger Ebert quote

[edit]

Have removed the extended Ebert quote on the grounds that it has far too much weight considering the current size of the page as a whole.

Please sign your posts. Removing the quote on the grounds that the article is too short is not a good reason. The quote shows that the film was not universally praised and I agree that it was somewhat too long but it could have been cut down instead of removing it. You could have requested it to be expanded, or better, expanded it yourself. --Funper (talk) 05:56, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
