DYK hook confusing, and not directly supported by its source
[edit]There were three significant problems with the hook: 1) Sicily isn't part of the 'European mainland' so the wording was a bit confusing (I imagine that this was referring to Salerno, but this was the second of the two major operations this force conducted) 2) the reference provided to support this claim is to an appendix which provides only the order of battle for the Allied force, and doesn't contain the claim that this was the 'first sustained land assault and invasion of the European mainland during this war' and 3) the first such invasion was actually conducted by Germany during the Norwegian Campaign in early 1940. I've tweaked the hook so that it's focused on Sicily and Salerno, which I hope is OK. Nick-D (talk) 23:30, 23 March 2013 (UTC)
