Cleaning Silver
[edit]Abrasives should never be used. Bring water to a brisk boil in a deep Aluminum pot, or a pot lined with Aluminum foil. Add a copious amount of Baking Soda (Sodium Bicarbonate) and maintain the boil. Immerse the Silver, make sure that it touches Aluminum. A few seconds is usually enough, a few minutes if the tarnish is heavy. The Silver will come out gleaming, wash in cold water and rub with a good quality micro fibre cloth. The water and foil becomes dirty, you may need to use a fresh boiling solutionHistorygypsy (talk) 12:43, 16 September 2012 (UTC)
