The part about the domesticated Przewalski horse is very unfortunate. Ever since Denis Sinor came up with the unhelpfull suggestion of the close relation between the nomad horse and the Przewalski, this idea has been taken up by countless publications. It lacks an understanding of the difference between a wild and a domesticated animal. The takhi is a wild horse, and lacks all the characteristics of a domesticated animal. Unlike our domesticated horse, it has not lost the instinctive fear of humans. Wild animals can be tamed, but the stress of keeping them close to humans still causes the well-known defects any zoo-keeper is familiar with, stunted growth and unsuccesfull sexual reproduction. That is why it is so difficult to keep extinct wild animals alive by using the populations left in our zoo's for reproduction. Only takhi's kept in parks, away from humans, can really thrive and reproduce, so a healthy wild population is indispensable for the survival of the species.
This is such a widely known fact that I deem it superfluous to gather sources. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.212.52.128 (talk) 14:30, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

Mongol Hunt
[edit]I'm debating whether the overly long paragraph starting with "One of his convincing descriptions" is necessary. It does not seem to add much, if anything to the overall topic, and I wonder if it should be deleted. Any comments?
